Ordering a new 29V from Entegra/Jayco without these two options..

Is it worth it to get the larger 12 cu ft refridge ???
Is it worth it to get the Aluminum wheels ?

One became available now with those two options at about 4k increase.

Should I wait for a few more months (hopefully), for the one I ordered or should I go for this one at the additional cost.

We didn't think we needed those options.

To me the wheels would be either/or, but if you plan on extended trips I would go for the fridge. You also need to consider resale/trade value.

I like the look of the Aluminum rims, but in reality it is only cosmetic, and they come with decent looking hub caps.

To me its about the frig. The standard frig is a 21 CU Residential. The optional is a dual fuel gas/electric RV style frig. How do you foresee using your new MH? For me, hands down dual fuel frig, as I like to boondock, and reduces my need to run the generator as often. The vibe on the web, it seems like most people love their residential frig, and would never go back to an RV frig.

Personally, if I was in the market to buy a unit today. I would snatch it up in a heartbeat, as the lead times are crazy long and prices seem to be going up upon delivery.

Even though there's just two of us, there have been times in our 29MV we could have used the 12 cuft fridge rather than the 8 cuft fridge, even though the pantry storage area is lost. Cramming our freezer and fridge full for a long trip, the cooling isn't as good because weak air circulation.


As for the aluminum wheels, I wouldn't want to have to polish them.

The 12 cube fridge is what sold me on mine. I moved up from a camper's 4 cf to the 12. Seeing it made my eyes water. I didn't know they could be so big.

I absolutely love mine. You can get a lot of stuff in there. Also, it seems to cool better when not overloaded so you may be better off with the larger one if you tend to fill up the smaller version.

The wheels are not worth it (my opinion). Don't know if they are as strong as steel or not. You may have to keep polishing them so they look good. Groan!

Go for the larger fridge, you need to pack the smaller one tightly to get everything needed, the larger one possibly will allow for better airflow keeping everything evenly cold.

The reality of it is you might be charged more when yours finally gets delivered anyways…. So it may be moot. Several posts of dealers increasing the agreed upon price because of raw material price increases being passed on to them from Jayco, plus if you get the one now, you can use it sooner! And who doesn’t like some extra bling.

I agree with the others in that the fridge is worth upgrading but not the wheels.
I've also heard from mechanics that aluminum wheels are more prone to lose air in the tires anyway so I'm keeping my OEM steel wheels on my rig.

When we got our Precept two years ago we choose the 12 cu. ft. Electric/gas refrigerator over the residential 20 cu. ft. It was considered an option and cost more than the larger frig. It’s a four door frig. with plenty of room. Never having to worry about whether or not the frig. is on or off makes it all worthwhile. I like the Aluminum wheels and I have yet to polish them and they still look like new. Good luck!

Ask if he’ll swap the wheels; never hurts to ask…you never get what you don’t ask for. Or, you can tell him the wheels aren’t really worth that much to you, but if he can make it a bit more palatable by throwing in a couple of small things you can convince your boss to approve the deal

I fell in love with the Fridge the first time I saw it. It's really handy on longer trips to be able to stock up on food....not having to mess around with ice chests for extra capacity. The wheels I wouldn't care about one way or another...but the Fridge is awsome.

Keep in mind while you are traveling from place to place you will be going by grocery stores. So you do not have to take everything from your house refrigerator with you , just plan your meals accordingly.

Completely agree with everybody, wife & I are very happy with 12cf electric/propane Norcold fridge. We don't miss the pantry. Workaround was getting a 4-drawer dorm dresser unit that tucks in between the dinette seat & bathroom wall right across from the fridge. Will add, measure fridge shelves then go to Home Goods or someplace & buy a bunch of sturdy clear acrylic bins. They act as drawers so you don't have to dig in back corners, they hold everything in place & contain spills. They still permit good airflow & you don't need to mess with the mini spring-rod gadgets

I agree with many of the comments go with the larger fridge. I have a 12 cu ft. 4 dr and find it is not big enough at times and do not let them short change you witha frig that does not have the ice maker. Ice Maker is a must have for me. As far as the Aluminum rims.... I would pass ... just research the pitfalls that come along with them.
