It's ok to be OCD.
So I'm getting ready for a 5 1/2 hour trip next weekend. Oil change, check. Wash RV, check. Air pressures, Check. Random wiring fixes, check. Air filter check, nope. I only have 9000 miles on it. Quit being OCD and wait until at least 12000 miles on it.
So as I'm just about done with my pre trip prepping, the wife says, "Hey, why don't we load up the kids and hang out at my sisters tonight?" So in 30 minutes, we are on the road. Everything is fine until we get to the expressway where I can't get the RV above 52 mph. With the pedal to the floor, the motor won't go above 3000 rpm, won't kick down to a lower gear. If I manually shift to 3rd, the RPM's go to 4200 and fall down to 3000. No CEL and the dummy gauges all read normal.
Long story short, after checking a few things, I check the only 9000 mile old air filter. It and the intake tube are plugged solid with leaves and seeds. I really didn't see any nest as I cleaned it out but I'm not sure how all that got there without a little help. A cleaning and a new air filter and all is good.
Moral of the story, if there is a voice inside your head that says check something, just check it. Who cares if someone calls you mental.
