Jayco 24B power switch by the door

My 2020 24B is plugged into shore power most of the time but for the last week I have left it unplugged and with the power switch on. Today nothing worked, the power switch was lit but I could not turn it off. I assume the battery was down. When starting it up and waiting a few minutes I had power to lights, etc. and the power switch clicked on and off.
Does the house battery get charged when plugged into shore power ?
Should I always turn off the main power switch when leaving the coach unplugged from shore power ?
Just how does that switch work ?

Thanks
jim

Yes and yes

When just sitting and not plugged to shore power, flip the main power switch off. Lots of crap will suck it dead in just a day or three...lol

Of course the house battery charges when plugged in as well

You may want to consider installing a battery cutoff switch. When not plugged in, flip it off and you shouldn’t have any residual drain on your battery from things like the CO alarm. My batteries stay nearly fully charged for a couple of months with the cutoff switch.

Not sure

But if it's plugged in, why would you not have the switch on

It does on my Greyhawk. The wire connection from the converter connects to a busbar in the battery compartment. That bus bar is also connected to the battery and the battery cutoff solenoid. So when the battery cutoff solenoid is in the disconnect position, the battery still gets power from the converter.
