Jayco driver and passenger seats
We have a 2018 Jayco MVP , and the seats are coming apart.
The vinyl surface is coming apart, and it extends to the love seat and dinette cushions.
The front seats have a built-in headrest, and I can't find decent covers for these.
I contacted Jayco who referred me to the manufacturer...
Neither was helpful.
Any suggestions?

Various threads about the issue and it was industry wide due to bad vinyl. All you can do is get them recovered or replace them.

I have the same problem in my 2017 Greyhawk. I bought a repair kit that masks the problem. The little bare areas will disappear but a big tear will probably still be visible. I had a tear in the driver's back rest and did a repair with this kit. It stopped the tear but doesn't hide it. The more I played with the tear, the more of the cheap covering crumbled in my hand.

We had the same problem with the couch in our TT, and now the couch in the Greyhawk as well as the driver's seat.
I'm going to replace the couch with a Rec-Pro recliner unit at some point. I've been scouring the internet trying to find replacements for the front seats, and it's surprisingly difficult. I'd like to have better/different foam, and obviously a better, more durable covering. I was able to find some potential replacements at RV specific outfitters and furniture makers. It looked like most of those were "build to order", and they were quite expensive.
At this point, I'm probably going to end up contacting my local upholsterer and having them "re-built". But that's a "someday" item on the list... I'm certain he can do it, and I'm fairly certain it will be costly. But I'm hoping it will be exactly what I want without too much compromise...

My wife noticed that our Rec Pro recliners are starting to exhibit the same pleather flaking issue. Much less flaking, but still starting.

When did you buy them? Supposedly there was a production issue with much of the "pleather" and caused it to occur across all brands.

I'll be getting fabric. Forgot to mention that.

From my experiences with "Pleather" going back many years, it has never been a durable product. In regards to RV's and my experiences, pleather has been in use for longer than my RV is old, perhaps a lot longer and it still isn't any good. I went with "Ultra-Leather" for my new seats. ~CA

I had the same issue on my Jayco seats, peeling like crazy, they're made out of PVC from what i understand and they get brittle over time and break apart.
This company I found makes seat covers for greyhawks and I think other jayco models and I got a pair for mine in leatherette. From what the guy explained to me, the leatherette covers are made out of Vinyl, supposedly more durable less prone to cracking so we'll see.

Pic attached, I thought the seat cover pattern was really well done for the most part, although there were some exposed areas around the edges where you can see a bit of the original upholstery.

Those covers look pretty darn good! Thank you for that!
If that PVC thing is true, that's a serious "miss" to spec in a motorhome. PVC is extremely susceptible to UV breakdown. I personally would never spec PVC for something that had any chance of prolonged UV exposure... like vehicle seats...

I doubt they "missed" it imo, it's all about saving cost, otherwise they would have put real leather seats!

TRUTH!
But what is the real cost delta between PVC and Vinyl? Or virtually any other material better suited for use in an RV? Or even an additive in the material that makes it withstand the intended environment? I mean, I know they're pinching pennies, but really? And this has been (and continues to be) a problem for many years...

I don't want to automatically bag on Chinese products, but I'll put a buck down that the pleather was from China and perhaps Jayco wasn't aware of the issue until it was too late.

How large are the areas that are exposing the original upholstery? how noticeable since the original upholstery on mine is completely flaked off and now showing dark gray.?
