Jayco Greyhawk 29MVP Full body paint.
We went to buy a part at our local RV dealership. The owner was in the parts area so we took the opportunity to discuss Jayco products, which he does sell, but no MH. He said that it is not an opportune time to buy any RV with full body paint. The quality of the paint, the application, and the overall duration of the paint looking "good", is under par at this time. That disappoints me so much. Now we are considering no FBP on our new class C.
Your opinions are welcomed, please.

FBP was important to us in acquiring our 2017 Precept. Looks great so far, at 8 months. Have received many compliments. I have no idea what the “owner” may have been talking about. We had a 2014 Melbourne with FBP which looked great for the three years that we had it, and Precept’s paint job seems no different.

Full body paint was a must for hubby when we shopped for our new MH. He's a tough customer, tho and feels that the paint job is a little rough and plans to buff it and use a clay bar on it.
At the time it was important to us that we buy a unit that was made prior to the recent hurricanes - as we were concerned the factories might be tempted to rush assembly (and may provide a lesser construction quality) on more recent units to get them on the lots for those interested in buying them as temporary housing.

As I recall, Jayco doubled the list price for the FBP option on the 2017 Precept, from what it had been in earlier years. Would be odd, to say the least, that they would be jacking up the price at the same time that the quality of the paint job was going into the crapper. One wonders about the possible motives of the “owner” who made the disparaging remarks. Color me skeptical.

FBP is pretty, but they wanted $8000 dollars for it, which I figured I could live without. Then we have folks here who get into a fender bender and have to try and match the paint, which seems to be a big pain. But I do enjoy looking at it.

I managed to cause some damage to my 2014 Melbourne, which had the elaborate FBP pattern as well as a “sparkle” component to it. The local body shop that repaired it says they rent an $8000 (!) piece of equipment to match the various colors and finishes. The result was absolutely perfect! Amazing, in fact.
By the way. Their price was $4000 whereas the local Camping World quoted $7000.

Full body paint
When we ordered our 2017 greyhawk we liked the full body paint but disliked the nearly 9 thousand price tag so we did'nt get it.From past experience from checking pricing the stealership doubles what it costs them for the option and rakes in 100% profit. You can buy a lot of fuel and pay for a lot of campsites for the money saved, but thats my opinion.
As far as the quality of the paint job, thats something I could only guess at.
I have done automotive painting and there are a lot of factors involved. There are different grades of paint and clearcoat, from cheap to top shelf .You can buy a gallon of clear for under $100,or pay $400. I dont know what they use but if your source says the F.B.P. isnt that good????????
The units are pretty good looking stock, but if you like the custom look, thats your call...

We have the full body paint on our Seneca. We did not have it on our Greyhawk. This is the only down side to the full body paint. Jayco has paid to get it fixed the right way, but it has been a painful process.

The two things that caused us to not get full body paint... It's more expensive to repair even minor body damage, and the dealer told us that it can increase the heat inside the unit 10 to 15 degrees. Didn't need that... :-)

Really? I have to believe its the dark color schemes vs. the fairly neutral non-painted ones.
Any heat gain on a Greyhawk should be avoided IMHO. These things are hard to keep cool.

Yes, he was comparing the white that we ended up purchasing, to the mahogany color that we were looking at. We camp a lot in Florida, and need all the help we can get with keeping the heat down!

EXACTLY why we are ordering our 29MVP with two A/C's. Looks like we will go with standard graphics. Thank you everyone for your opinions and experiences. Be safe.

Terrible swirl marks in the paint. That on top of all the polishing compound left in all the cracks and crevices. It was a poor job by someone and it should have never left the factory that way. My good friend owns a detail business and Jayco is going to pay him to repair it. I'll follow-up and post pictures when it's done. Going in next week.

Great to hear. This option convinced us to buy the Jayco Greyhawk, without a doubt. I bet other manufacturers will be copying off of Jayco and doing the same. We live and travel in the South, so this is a no brainer for us. Hoping to order it early next year. Shopping prices now. Any suggestions on where to get the best price? We'll travel to get it.
