Jayco recalls thousands of motorhomes

https://www.rvtravel.com/jayco-recal...-crash-danger/

Jayco, Inc. (Jayco) is recalling more than 4,000 model year 2016-2018 Jayco Seneca, 2016-2019 Jayco Greyhawk, 2016 and 2018-2019 Jayco Redhawk, 2017 Jayco Envoy 200 Series and 2018-2019 Entegra Odyssey, Jayco Esteem, and Jayco Greyhawk Prestige motorhomes. The mounting brackets for the leveling system hydraulic pump and reservoir may fail allowing the components to contact the ground.

Jayco sure is on top of things. I just received a recall notice from them for this issue but the funny thing is, I had already received the notice from them for the same thing back in July of 2019.

Back then they were saying to bring it in for a repair. The latest notice states a permanent remedy is in testing and another notice will be sent when parts are available. They want you to temporarily install a plumber's strap.

I sent Jayco an email stating that I have already reinforced my bracket far beyond what they would be doing and asked if they would be willing to pay me $100 that I paid to have the repair done. So far they have not responded.

Just in reading reports over the years with pumps falling off and not liking how much mine flexed, I went ahead and braced mine myself. Like JimD said, mine is probably stronger than their fix will be.

From your pictures it looks like Jayco has different versions of the pump mount.

Unless things have changed, those are probably done at either LIPPERT or MOR-RYDE when they do the frame stretch. That could be the reason for the differences.

I received this notice several days ago and started to post something but in checking found that it was already posted in the recalls section.

As mentioned my notice says they will contact me when the fix is ready for install.

Mine failed about 2 years ago. Got it fixed under warranty. Luckily I was able to catch it and strap it up and get it to the repair shop before it drug on the ground. The fix has been fine ever since with a trip all the way to Alaska and back. If it can survive Alaska roads it will make it anywhere now :-)

Concerning the Seneca, the recall is for 2016 thru 2018. So I'm assuming that the 2019 and 2020 Seneca have an improved pump support. It would be helpful if a 2019/2020 Seneca owner would post some pictures of their pump mount.

Unless someone beats me to there punch I'll crawl under the Accolade and check things out and take some pics after the rain stops. The rain, however, is scheduled to go for quite some time.

Called Jayco’s customer service this morning, gave them the vin # and was told my rig was not involved in the recall. Our rig is an early model 2016 37HJ.

Crawled under mine today. 2018.5 Seneca. Same as RustyNuts. If you look at his photos the arm and brackets are his additions. The mount for Senecas is the U bracket on the pump. Checked the welds, but agree design sucks. Will wait to see what Jayco comes up with.

Well I m guessing that maybe the recall on the Senecas for 2016-2018 may not include the 2018.5 units which was the switch to the New S2 chassis. The first picture is from My 2018.5 on the S2 chassis and in this pic I have already added the tube brace. Someone on the Seneca Facebook page posted the second pic which is on a 2021 and it looks the same. Hopefully somebody will post up a 2016-2018 on an M2 chassis for comparison.

The bracket I made was pretty simple and is only the tubing section, the lower bracket it attaches to was already there and is a substantial bracket that the exhaust is hung off of. Here is a pic of my Addition to brace the factory mount.

Interesting that it’s Mounted the same as the pic of the 2021 unit.

I have a 2016 Jayco Redhawk and not sure what this recall is all about. Is the pump in this recall used for automatic leveling?

Do all years have the same system? (Brand name)

As I mentioned earlier, unless things have changed the leveling systems were added to the chassis by either Mor-Ryde or Lippert before they went to the assembly line. So depending on which brand was used and who did the mounting, could be the reason for the differences.
