Kayaks and a TOAD

Another question for the group. I have a 2 door Jeep Wrangler that I am thinking about towing behind our class C Jayco. I would also like to purchase 2 10ft kayaks fishing type but light in weight (~50lbs most).

So, opinions: try to get a rack that fits 2 door Jeep ? A split hitch receiver and install a kayak rack on back of RV and tow bar at same time? RV roof rack? Or, throw the kayaks into the RV?

Or has someone thought of some other fancy way of doing a Toad and transporting kayaks as same time?

Thanks.

Rack on the Jeep for sure. I have a single on my tow car

I tow my Honda pilot, love it. Keep in mind, in most states anything over 3000# must have breaks on tow vehicle.you may think not do it, but if u have a breakaway, you will get destroyed by the insurance company for not having it

Thanks. Most definitely will rig up the TOAD with all the necessary safety precautions. Don’t want it rolling past me.

If you put the rack on the jeep, then you can take the yaks on the jeep to the lakeside, river or place where the MH is not so close to be.

Back in the days of towing a camper with a 3/4 ton pickup, the kayaks lived on top of the pickup camper shell. They were covered for sun and rain protection, but I still had to put drains in them, because they would fill with water. Not really a difficult solution, but had to strategically drill the drain holes to get the water out. That was so I could get the kayaks off the roof of the camper shell. Yes, another one of those- "I should have thought of that first" moments. No harm, no fowl, but it was important to drill that 1/4 inch drain hole right where I wanted to put the 1 inch drain, in the low part of the hulls. Drains and plugs purchased at West Marine for Sunfish or Lasers.

put the kayaks on the roof upside down. Cockpit side down.. They won't ever fill with water that way.

We have put many thousands of miles of driving with boats this way.
