Key problems

I'm having some key problems with my new Seneca. First, I thought the lock to the TV door would be the same as the other outside doors but apparently not so. Can a locksmith make a key from the numbering on the lock? The passenger door on the Freightliner will not lock/unlock with the ignition key. I've tried lubricant but no help at all. Is there supposed to be a Key FOB? Thanks, Ed

No remote cab door locks (fob) unless someone added it aftermarket. (I did on mine)

Outside TV door lock on my 2014 is the very common CH751 key that is used on many other RV's compartments, water hatch, outside shower door, etc. Is that the number on the TV door lock? If it is, any RV place will have them.

If the cab door unlocks inside and operates properly, but just won't unlock with the key, I believe you have a Freightliner warranty issue. Is the rig still in Freightliner warranty? You don't have a rig year listed on your signature or in your profile. Can't tell if it is new or just new to you!

The Freightliner is on the new 2018.5 Seneca unit and still under warranty. Thanks for your help and reminder to update my profile. Thanks, Ed

I would bet they still use the CH751 key on that outside TV door!

If you are using an after-market key, I found the rubber surface on the key top would prevent a full insertion. A quick hit on the key corners with a belt sander worked for me. I could start but the locks wouldn't work.

I installed a Viper keyless entry system

The 2018.5 Seneca does use the CH751 key for the outside TV. Both my factory keys work great but I have had 2 locksmith shops try and cut extra keys for it and neither one of them will work for some reason. I do wish it was the same as all the other compartments though. I haven’t had any issues with the cab keys.

While talking locks, my side door is slightly gapped at the latch area which many of the Senecas we looked at are, even our old Winnebago was gapped and you could see the latch. One day I operated the keyless lock and you can see the deadbolt move over so I thought hummm...pulled out my pocket knife and low and behold, I could push the deadbolt back with the tip of my knife enough to open the door! Sometimes, I couldn’t push it back, it was about 50/50. I did find if I pushed the door in when I activated the lock, you can’t push it back. I plan on making a stainless guard to prevent access to the latch.

My 2014 also has "the gap"; other Seneca owners have noticed it too. In the next week or two I am planning on removing my door to install a frameless window in the door. In 2014 Jayco installed a regular fixed window there and it doesn't match the rest. So last winter I purchased a newer Seneca's frameless door window from Jayco (thru the local dealer) and will install it.

At the same time I plan to "shim" the door on the hinge side to close the gap somewhat. I may also install a cover plate as you mention to deter someone's ability to tamper with the latch. I will let you know how that goes!

I had some problems having RV keys made in the past so I've started ordering them precut from here :
RV Keys

Great customer service and zero issues with extra keys for my Seneca or my enclosed trailer...... and they were cheaper than my local locksmith also.

They still use the CH751 for the outer TV door? What is the world coming to?

I have precut keys on order for the TV door, which I hope solves the problem. The lock is actually CH507. As far as the passenger door goes, it looks like a job for a locksmith. Thanks everyone. Now I need to start another thread or two on other issues.

My 2018 Seneca does NOT use the CH751 key for the TV or anywhere.
I had a handful of those as spares and they do not work in any lock on my Seneca.

I was wondering where all the extra beer cans came from!
