Kwikee Step Motor replacment

The motor on our Kwikee steps would work sometimes and sometimes not. So, I got a new motor(from an auto parts store as recommended by other forums) and not the steps extend just fine but only retract about 1/2 way. I would appreciate any magic ideas!!!!!

My camping buddy had the same problem. There was some issue with a cam located in the electrical connection of the steps. He called Kwikee and they told him what to look for. I will try to contact him. good luck.

http://support.powergearus.com/techdocs/875.pdf check this sight if you don't have it. I think my friend did something with the drive link shaft that caused the problem. still waiting on him.

I suspect the motor your using might not be the exact spec of the OEM motor. Retracting requires the most energy and torque. I replaced mine with a quickee motor (under warrantee) and had no issue. Ensure all hinged points are well lubricated and that there is no binding.
