Kwikee Steps - Clicking relay

Someone posted here, not sure which forum about their Kwikee Steps not working and all they heard was a click from the relay.

Well, our steps broke --- again. And as I was disassembling the parts, I too could make the controller click by bringing the magnets together. But nothing else worked.

On a lark, I plugged in a new motor. Just the motor. Everything is disassembled since I did not think I had a bad motor. But - low and behold - just replacing the motor (not the gear box/linkage, not the controller) and things started working!

Of course I tried this after ordering the $140 controller from Amazon. But we'll see tomorrow when I reassemble things.

That click - and only that click? Try futzing with a new motor assembly: $50 on Amazon.

Steps started acting up this weekend, retracting intermittently and then making a clicking noise when retracted (as if the system was trying to complete the retraction cycle). It had been awhile, sad to say, since I last lubricated them. Doused them good with Kwik Lube, exercised them a bit and now we seem to be back to normal.

Just FYI, I pulled the Kwikee manual out to confirm where all to lube. Aside from cleaning them first, it says to lube all moving parts EVERY 30 DAYS. Think I missed that part...
