LCD Strip

I installed (with the help of a friend) this LCD strip the weekend on Harvey the RV. (picts to follow)

Ran the wires into the already existing outside wall sconce. The first time we tried it, all we could make it do was turn green. It didn't respond to the remote and we thought we had a lemon.

When I contacted Steve at M4 Products he tried to recreate the problem at his offices and he was able to determine how it happened. It turns out the wires inside the controller were switched and the polarity was backwards. All we had to do was switch the polarity on the controller and we were good to go.

So, now I have a nice 10 foot LCD strip under the awning when once I had a single bulb behind an orange cover.

Now we are ready to head to the Cosmic Campground in NM to view the Milky Way and where they only allow Red outside lights.

Terrible shot, but you get the idea:

Here is what it looks like in the night. Remember, the original light was a single orange light bulb by the door, which pretty much lit up the light by th door and not much else.

This puts out a ton more light. I suppose we can set it to yellow to keep the bugs from being attracted to it.

TimHolt, I think you meant LED strip. I've heard that LED lights do not attract bugs. Hope that's true.

I had the same problem when I replaced mine on my Seneca. I had gotten the polarity backwards and the 5-pin connector backwards, also. -So while they 'worked' there wasn't any color changing and they were at a fixed brightness. Once I took them back in and figured out what I'd done wrong, I've been in love with them.

I haven't noticed them helping with bugs, though. They seem to bother us no matter what.

A million thanks Tim! I had the same problem on the LED strip I installed. You've given me the solution now.
