Leaks in Storage Compartment

Hi All,

I bought my first RV last spring. A 2010 31FK. The whole time during the summer, I kept the MH at the top of my driveway near the house since we were using it. And we never had a problem with water in the compartments. In the fall, I moved it to the back of my property. Checking the storage compartments in the fall and winter, I found I was to getting water in the compartments on one side of the unit. When I went to get it ready for the season this spring...it again had water in the compartments. When it was at the top of the drive, it was pretty level, but out back it was uneven from side to side.

I have a couple questions. First, does anyone else have this issue? I did bend the taps on the latches so it would close tighter...but that didn't seem to help. Does it seem reasonable that the leaning of the unit is an issue? The other question is, do people drill holes in the compartments and put in plugs? Once they got water in them...there was not way to get it out without using the wet vac.

Any thoughts/suggestions for a newbie?

I have a Jayco Eagle 328RLS that I had a similar problem with. I chased a leak for quite some time before finally finding the source. When it rained the rain water was entering through an access door on the street side of the unit. I had the unit set up under some trees and the gutters were filling with debris not allowing the water to flow to the end of the gutters. Instead the water was flowing directly down the side of the unit over and into the access door. I cleaned the gutters and all has been well since. I really feel keeping the gutters free of all obstructions is paramount. I have also placed some of this RV gutter over the access panel http://www.campingworld.com/shopping...ff-white/16960. Good luck resolving your issue.
