LED Replacement Headlights for E450

I have a 2019 Greyhawk 30x on the E450 chassis.

I would like to upgrade the headlights to LED bulbs.

Has anyone does and what do you suggest for replacements. Is there any gotchas?

Thanks

Before I had my cataract surgery this was high on my to-do list. I never followed through but I read up a lot and watched a lot of videos. I became convinced that it would take a couple of hundred bucks to buy good ones. There was a website that plunks in a bunch of different brands and then shines them up against a wall so you can see the pattern for yourself, the hotspots, etc.

I was hoping to spend less that $100, but that site convinced me that the cheaper bulbs can blind oncoming traffic.

They also showed the less expensive bulbs: might run too hot, might stick out too far and make installation hard, might generator a lot of noise, etc.

Funny thing about all of this is that one I had my cataract surgery (a couple of months ago) I can see. I'm not worried about upgrading the bulbs as the stock ones are now fine.

Not-so-funny thing is that the cataract surgery was a helllllllllllllllllllllllllllllluva lot more expensive that upgraded bulbs.

Put these in my 2017 Greyhawk which is the E450 chassis. Pretty bright.

Carid can probably help with a full replacement if there is one. The LED bulbs are not always DOT approved.

As Jim’s pic shows, its the H13 bulbs that work in the E450. One of the best mods to make…

Have these held up well, without melting the headlight housing?

I put a set of supposedly good LEDs in my pickup just before a lengthy RV trip. Bright? For sure. Extended range Nope. Then those 5 or 6 strange trpuble code throws showing up on the ScanGauge that I couldn't clear. Got home and replaced those LEDs with some high intensity Phillips Extreme Vision (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1). Just as bright and the range was much better. And they were not particularly costly either. The trouble codes disappeared. After doing some further research, found that if you didn't have the right housing reflector the light beam would scatter instead of being thrown ahead - at least on my 2011 vintage truck plus the truck's CPU wasn't 'tuned' for those bulbs.

Can't say if mine have melted at all since I don't do that much night driving. The bulbs I got have little cooling fans though.

I normally drive with my lights on, even during daylight hours, with no issues.

We’ve been reading and it’s saying that you have to basically take almost the whole front end apart. With my jeep, it was simple, I have DOT approved lights and it makes a world of improvement when driving in the dark. but sounds like it’s almost more trouble than it’s worth any info on that. Ours is the 2011 greyhawk, ford 450. Looking for input from those of you who have done it. Thanks for your help.

Go to Youtube and look up changing it out. Honestly, it took me about 10 to 15 mins per side, and I wasn't in a hurry. My 450 is a 2018 chassis, but likely not too different.
