Leveling Systems

Thinking about getting a leveling system, some questions:
What type does Jayco install at the factory?
What manufactor and type do you have on yours and why do you like it?
How much did it cost?
Is the auto leveling worth the cost compared to the manual type?
How hard is it to install or would you just let the RV dealer do it.
Thanks you your time,

Jim and Sharon

We ordered ours with the levelers. Jayco is currently installing the Bigfoot system. Love it. Definately worth it, in my opinion.

Mine came with the Bigfoot leveler system installed. I like it, where its reasonably level all 4 levelers come down and it levels nicely. Where the ground is less level from to back sometimes only the front or rear levelers come down, in that case I drop the other set manually to make things solid and reduce the rocking

Bought my 06 Greyhawk used. Previous owners had Big Foot levelers installed. They work great. I cut four pieces of 2x12 to put under the pads if parking on asphalt so they don't dig in when it gets hot. They also work well if on an extreme unlevel site. Just add more blocks. Grateful for previous owners foresight.

We had levels put on upon purchase of Melbourne at Jayco. They installed Big Foot, we love them, we'll worth the money.

The DW & I initially planned to have the bigfoot system installed by the dealer. But since we purchased our coach in Az and we live in NC we decided to wait and have the leveller system installed locally in case we had issues. We didn't want to have to take it back 3,000 miles to the installer if there was a problem. We purchased in Oct of 2011. We haven't installed the system yet and have gotten really proficient at levelling with the use of the tri-levellers and some cutoff 2x10s.

We do plan to add Bigfoot auto level system at some point but just not right now.

Good Luck! Be sure to let us know your final decision.

I'll be the guy with the alternate opinion. I've had 3 RVs. The two with leveler systems were Holiday Rambler and Gulf Stream. One system was HWH, the other was another brand.
Both systems had issues.
The HWH system needed new rear hydraulic rams. Normally, these can be rebuilt by a local shop for $<100. However, HWH has a sealed type ram, and you've got to send it back to them. Rebuilds are $275/each.
The other unit, motor failed. I also managed to crack the windshield of the Gulf Stream while attempting to get it level.

Our current Jayco Granite Ridge doesn't have automatic levelers. I'm happy without the weight gain and another system that has a lot of electronics and hydraulic components...
