Looking for help with electrical and any owners manuals and schematics

Hello friends,
My apologies if I posted this twice. I'm still figuring out how this works so please bear with me.

I see, and have been reading, that there are very many knowledgable people on this forum. I have already learned how to fix a couple problems! Love it thank you all.

Anyways, I am the owner of 2000 Jayco Eagle Series M-283 G, Queen Bed floor plan, class c motor home, Ford E450 Triton 10 Cyl.

I have been scawering and searching all depths of the internet to find ANY owners manual for the motor home that preferably has the electrical schematics for throughout front to back.
Specifically:
- Thermastat wiring
- Converter, inverter and switcher diagrams wiring schematics
- ALL Fuse locations and what the fuses go to and their proper amp
- Roof Air Conditioning unit manual/schematics etc.
- Any and all wiring schematics in general

Last year the converter and inverter fried (the original ones from back when it was new in 2000) so I figured that was probably normal and I should replace them anyways. So I bought a new converter and inverter and switching unit. Got it all hooked up (or so I thought).
Now certain electrical stuff is not working right.
For instance, none of the interior lights that are "part of" the motor home work. The bedroom has a powered vent that can either suck or blow air and that isn't working at all, the roof AC unit won't turn on, and the refrigerator won't turn on (that might be a different issue I am not sure yet), the water pump isn't getting power, etc)
YET the microwave is fine and All the outlets inside the motor home work fine. Plug anything in and it works.

So to try to start the troubleshooting process, I unplugged everything and killed all power to the motor home. I then used a shore outlet to plug in the RV to shore power. Same problems as described above.
I unplugged from shore power and turned on the generator and let it run for awhile and still all the exact same problems.
It seems that either the converter or inverter is giving power to one thing (like AC) and not the other (like DC). And I can't seem to find a way to get it to work both AC and DC (if that's what the problem even is).
The switcher unit seems to be doing its job fine as it switches from shore power to generator power no problem just only runs the outlets all the time no matter what.

Has anyone else seen this or had any similar issues?

I will be happy to provide pictures and any other information that that would be helpful for you in hopes of being able to help me out.

Thank you so much in advance for your time and any help and knowledge you can share! This has been a nightmare and I dont know where else to turn.
Thanks again, look forward to seeing what people have to say!

Sincerely,
Ryan Dunn

From what you describe you do not have 12v power being supplied.

Being a motor home it may be a bit more complicated troubleshooting as you have a house battery and a engine battery.
Basics to start with-

Is your house battery charged? Is it connected properly? Breaker or battery disconnect on / OK?
Check your 12V fuses and connections in the converter.
Verify your converter will output 12v when plugged in to shore power.

Hi Ryan, Use this link to do forum search for 283G and you'll find about 10 posts. In these you'll see member's who have/had this same camper. Some are still active today. Send private messages and you may find some good advice.
Regarding an owner's manual, my best resource for vintage manuals no longer offers them on their webpage. I've emailed them for help... so far, I've only received a salesman's reply... but if I hear back from their webmaster I'll let you know if there's a new URL. Here is the one that recently stopped working: Jayco Owner Manuals | Cunningham Campers, Inc. | Clarksville Indiana

None of what you're looking for will be in an owner's manual. Your only hope would be if someone on JOF had asked for them from JAYCO. That is very unlikely too since JAYCO usually only keeps them on file for 10 years.

Good luck

Thank you very much for your reply and help, I am away from the RV right now but I'll be back there later this evening and will check/confirm everything you mentioned and reply again with the results. Thanks again.

Thank you very much for the reply and useful information. I will do what you suggested and find other 283G owners and message them, great idea. Also thanks for the links, greatly appreciate your help.

One of the things I am looking for is the fuse locations and diagrams which can usually be found in owners manuals.
There is more information I am looking for that I haven't mentioned that I know can be found on the owners manual too. So since I know certain information can be found in the owners manual I figured I would just ask for that instead of every little thing I was looking for. But thank you for the reply and the suggestion.

I am not sure why Jayco doesn't provide manuals for all of their earlier RV's as the cost of disk space is very low. In any case and perhaps a halfway start, you can find the manuals for the chassis, perhaps yours is an 1999 or 2000 Ford E450 and the manuals for those still exists. I purchased a complete Ford service shop manual for mine off of Ebay for ~20$ (a few years back). Also, the Jayco "Owner's Manual" (at least mine and others I have seen) doesn't really go into any detail as to having wiring diagrams, or telling you where the fuse panels are, or where circuit breaker panel is actually located. In fact, the owners manual is very generic and provides little to no technical detail.

For example, I just checked my manual to see what it states for the location of the circuit breaker panel and this is what I get (same for most fuses although it does state the mirror fuses are under the dash... big help there)... and no information as to where to find the circuit breaker panel at all in the manual, although this still may be of some value, just not a lot of value as you may suspect would be the case.

CIRCUIT BREAKERS
The following table provides generic circuit breaker alignment information. Your RV may not be exactly the same as shown depending on model, floor plan and options.
Main 30 amp Main, incoming power to unit
A 15 amp Microwave oven
B 15 amp Refrigerator, GFCI, kitchen/bath
C 20 amp Air conditioner
D 15 amp Utility/converter/inverter
E 15 amp Water heater

Another tip. Jayco doesn't make much, they assemble standard components that other's build. So if you're having a stove problem research the stove mfg. Same with the other parts.

The items you mention are 12 volts. You have to start at the house batteries and work from there. Assuming all of your 12 volt fuses are good and all of your reverse polarity fuses are good. Normally inline fuses on the positive cable along with 30 amp breakers close to the batteries.

Check your converter wiring

Backing up to the beginning of your post, it sounds like you didn’t connect the 12 volt wire fro the house battery to the converter. Review the installation manual for the converter step by step. Something is wired incorrectly or you missed a wire to connect.

I had a very similar with my 2017 Greyhawk. No 12v dc, whether plugged to shore power or gen. My problem was four ground wires that had become detached from the frame under the rv. They were combined together to attach as one. I cleaned everything up and re-attached them. Problem solved. Might be worth a look underneath at all grounds attached to the frame. They take a lot of abuse under the rv from vibration and water sprayed up at them.

The ground wires under my RV were all loose due to insufficient crimp on the lug. Caused some pretty goofy problems.

It may be very embarrassing to ask them for a wiring diagram because then they would have to create one?
