Lubricate Slide and Slide Seals?

Newbie Rv'er here this year. The dealer said to never lubricate the slide or slide seals. I have the Schwintech slide system on my 2021 Melbourne 24L. Not sure if they just want the service department business, but I know special lubricant spray for RV slides is available. Apparently these sprays do not allow dust and dirt to collect but will provide lubrication for the slide mechanisms. Looking for feedback and thanks to all in advance.

What's your owner's manual say about lubrication?

The manual references very little maintenance required. But does state a "dry lubricant" may be used to prevent squeaking.

Well your dealer is WRONG. Here is a Schwintech video specifically on lubrication.

I heard the same advice from our RV dealer, no need to lube the slides. I like the information in the video and will lube mine as recommended.

First about slide lubes....I have been using the 3in1 slide lube which has Teflon and the 3in1 rubber seal lube. I lube both about ever 6 months and it is amazing how much quieter and smooth a slide operates after doing this.

Oh nothing serious, I had Carpel Tunnel and Cubital Tunnel surgery on the 10th, slipped on wet stairs and fell and split open the stitches on the Cubital Tunnel (elbow) while I won’t post a pic of the fall aftermath, this is what it looked like before the fall..........understand my grumpiness? Better now with pain killers.

OH MAN!!! That's kinda gnarly looking for that kind of surgery! Although, itll give you some bragging rights later. Lol! (Not laughing AT you, laughing WITH you!) Not gonna hijack the thread here because I'm sure we could swap battle wound and pain stories forever, but stay on the pain killers, keep the pain managed. You'll be back on the ground running full tilt in no time

How do you like your unit? We just ordered ours yesterday!!

You definitely want to protect the seals from UV light so make sure the seal lube has that feature.

If your Schwintek gear/rack isn't squeaking then I would leave it alone. The gear rack is not exposed while driving and when open and camping you can just look it over for any debris. Lube attracts dust/dirt.

The rubber seals and the wipers can be cleaned by hand but again, if you use any lube it will collect dust over time. IMHO

One of the reasons I like the 3in1 lube, they are both a dry lube with no residue.

I second this. 3-in-1 won't attract dirt. Watch the video on youtube about servicing your slide.

I seal and lube my slide every spring and again mid to late summer. After 5 years, my seals still look and feel like new.

Rocky,
Your dealer is absolutely wrong! As noted here already, the Schwintek slides are unique and require the lubricant CRC w/PTFE that Lippert specifies. Spend some time on You-Tube and learn all you can about the points that need to be lubed, especially the Gibs and Coupler. They are hard to find, but once you learn it the process is easy. I recommend you look for "My RV Works, Inc" videos on Schwintek. Also look into the rollers under the slide floor (on larger slides, such as kitchen) and lubricate them as well.

Ever since the seals on my SOB dried up and rotted right off, I’ve put seal conditioner on the seals. Do it.

And I lube like the video says with CRC. It doesn’t attract dirt. I like the smell too. Lol
I also spray the bottom rollers with silicone spray.
I can tell the difference after doing all that.

I do mine,
Its like when the Dealer saids that your water pipes will never leak, So you don't need to know how to get to them.
