Maiden Trip 2018 Seneca 37HJ

Just returned a couple of days ago from our maiden trip from southern Oregon to western Colorado. Near Crescent Junction, Utah the engine light came on and stayed on. The following day I took it in to the authorized Freightliner shop, Transwest, in Grand Junction. I found them to be very professional and pleasant. After downloading data to a computer they recommended just resetting the error and driving it to see if the error returned. It never returned. Two questions for now: 1) One slide in the bedroom sticks badly on one side. Any suggestions on adjusting? 2) The second question is just a general braking question. Our preferred route includes a scary incline in SE Oregon, Doherty Slide, 8% down grade, 3 miles. It is bad enough we took a different route home, adding two hours to our drive time. Obviously, I'm not a trucker and looking for any suggestions on the best way to drive a down grade such as this one?

Use the exhaust brake and down shift.

X2.... Our Seneca handles lots of 8% grades... exhaust brake on at the top of the hill solves all concerns.
