Melbourne 24k television viewing

We’d like to be able to watch television while sitting in the swiveled driver and passenger seats but it’s just too hard to see it. Has anyone done a modification to the television mount so that it comes out farther than the edge of the overhead bunk area?

I feel your pain. The dinette is not comfortable to sit on. I haven’t thought about a new tv mount. We find making the dinette into a bed and lay down or recline while watching tv. Interested also if anyone’s installed a different mount.

We removed the dinette and replaced it with 2 Thomas Payne recliners (theater seating) very comfy to watch tv

I’ve read your posts about traveling in your Melbourne and changes you’ve made. You actually inspired us that it would be a great fit for us, too. Just not sure about removing the dinette because of the storage and we do use the table for a lot of things. Still on the fence on this one!

Someone on this forum moved their TV over the entrance door, losing the cabinet above.

I saw that, too...that would certainly help. We are considering getting a small projector to connect to TV or laptop so we can watch movies on the wall behind the dinette seat on the left side. There's a nice big blank space, so, in theory, it looks like it should work if we figure out the right spot for the projector.

Would a slim-mount TV on that same wall fit and clear the slide when retracted?

the mount that came with our Melbourne 24K didn't even allow us to see the whole screen while sitting at the dinette. The overhead bunk was in the way for a good portion of the screen. I left the main Mount onto the wall but unbolted the arms and replaced it with longer arms. It now swivels out to almost the edge of the bunk but it does allow us to see the whole TV from the dinette.there are some Nifty mounts out there one of them which allows you to quickly disconnect the TV and move it onto another Mount so you could put multiple mounts around went outside one above the bunk one perhaps by the bathroom wall and just move the TV around as you please.

I have a Motorola Z2 phone with the projector moto mod and I love it. We lay in the back bed and projected onto the ceiling. We lay in our chairs outside under the awning and projected onto the awning.

On the tv swivel. I think it gave me about 4 to 6” extra.

Good job! I believe my original arms were a total of about 13" and I ended up adding an extra 2.5" on each of the two sections giving me an extra 5" and thus extending out to about 18". For anyone else considering this...I ordered my rectangle and square iron from a web site (~$12) and tried to drill the wholes using power hand drill which didn't produce perfectly straight through holes thus once it was put back together it wouldn't fold back together, the arms hit each other. So I ordered more iron and used a bench press to drill the holes. That worked perfectly great, only issue was the hole for the lock pin was off by about 1/8" so I cut the side out so the pin fit in a "U" shaped cutout which works just fine. Spray painted it black and it is like bought quality.
I haven't tried driving with it extended and don't know if I would wanna try as bumpy as our roads are around here...besides the TV is plugged into an outlet that has a engine cutoff circuit so it doesn't work when the engine is on, even if generator is on.
