Melbourne Alignment

I was amazed that the Mercedes dealer couldn't do an alignment on my 2016 Melbourne...they said the front end was too wide. I figured since it was a Mercedes chassis they'd be able to do it.

Any suggestions on what my options are? I don't know that I have a particular problem, just haven't had it checked / done since I bought it...figured it would be good preventative maintenance.

Thanks in advance. Happy Camping.

If it is a dealer that sells Sprinters they most likely meant the camper part was too wide but thats unusual because I thought the RV market was part of the franchise deal. I had mine done at an independent tire shop that does med duty trucks as well. I don’t think it takes any special tools or a MB computer to do it they just need to know the specs and be able to fit it in the shop and in the machine.

It’s the only “local” Mercedes dealer that will even do routine maintenance on the rig (and I have to drive 45min for that privilege).

I’ve called several local tire shops and they won’t touch it...I can’t even get them to put longer valve stems on.

I’m at a loss for where to go.

Have you tried the Freightliner Sprinter dealer in Canonsburg? The tire shop I went to did med duty trucks like the NPR box trucks, school buses and up to tandem axle dump trucks. It would be a long drive but Sun Motors in Mechanicsburg should be able to do both for you. They get good reviews on the Sprinter-forum.

Edit: Freightliner dealers may or may not do warranty work on a MB Chassis but they will do routine maint. Don't expect to get cappuccino and croissants in the waiting area though. May even get more reasonable prices on service. My FL dealer is a lot cheaper on parts by 20-40%.

PF, you’re a champ! I haven’t tried there but I will. As for distance, it’s closer than Washington PA where I have to go for routine Mercedes maintenance!

THANKS!!

PF...unfortunately that didn’t work. Those guys told me I needed to go to a tire shop. Still trying to get alignment done. Why are the simplest things so difficult?!

They didn't give you any suggestions? I would think they would say "we send all our alignment work to …"

Again, unfortunately no. They weren’t interested in helping so I wasn’t interested in wasting my time.
