No Easy Fix
I hate to break the news but not sure there is going to be a universal fix for all. I too have found after research that parts not added or removed make it a tough go and you will likely need to engineer (as Seniorchief did) your own solution. There is no cross-member with hanging bracket (item 14 or 17) so you either need to purchase or design/create your own. The good news is there is plenty of upper room under the coach to find a place. I just haven't figured out where. I will definitely need to make a hanging bracket of some type to connect the hinge brackets/hook plate (item 8, upper diagram). Then mount some type of lock/holder to the rear end to hold the carrier/tire firmly in place.
I did see where it says MB uses different lug-bolts for the steel rim (which is what I have for the spare) compared to the aluminum/alloy rims Jayco installed. I can't say if this is true or not yet. I have ordered a set of OEM lug-nuts and will post up when they arrive. This spare tire idea is really starting to add up $$$...

Thanks for the write up. Not sure if the 24M and 24K are identical on the underbelly but this definitely gives me some ideas. Didn’t cross my mind to look at the other manufactures who utilize the same Sprinter body.

The Roadmaster tire carrier is sounding like a viable option.

Yeah, if I didn't use my hitch to carry bicycles, likely would just mount it there with a nice Jayco or Mercedes tire cover. Think I am in too deep now to turn back...

24K Melbourne spare tire mount.
I managed to make a mount for my spare tire. I use a winch to get it in position and then fasten to the frame with two 1/2” nuts.
Video is here. https://youtu.be/RuuY2viipbA

Excellent job and great idea! It gets that tire way up in there. That meaty beam seems like a great mounting location for something, just didn't think about a hand winch. I bet you had a heck of a time drilling through that beam or did you use a special drill bit? My 24K is a little different or did you add the black bracket above the tire? Of course my OEM spare tire bracket showed up today so I will likely continue with that style but if I have an issue, definitely going to look at your set-up again.

Thanks. I had to make both brackets so the tire would not wiggle. I tried the front bracket first but it still wiggled so I made the rear bracket. It’s nice and tight. Drilling was not an issue except through the trailer hitch 1/4” steel. That’s where I mounted the winch. The ole muscles got a little worn out. Took me 5-1/2 hrs from start to finish. The best part is it didn’t cost me anything to do it. I used stuff I already had. Even the rim and brand new tire were free because I kept them from my Navion when I traded it in.

How does the Navion coach side compare to the Melbourne coach side?

Are you talking about the actual body material?

When we bought the Navion we thought that the quality was top of the line. For the most part it was at the time but since we bought the Jayco were seeing the quality is not much different. I do know that the wiring in the Navion was really complex compared to the Jayco. I did like the Navion Fiberglas roof. The Navion side windows were full sliders which probably let more air in but with the Jayco you can leave the windows open when it rains. I would have to say that they both are pretty compatible as far as quality and workmanship goes. Another thing that you have to consider is the Navion was a 2008 and things have changed since then.

Spare tire
Your install looks great. If you’re concerned about the beam squeezing you could do like I did. I put some pieces of 1/8” plates on top of the beam in the front. My plates went the width of the beam. I think about 4” x 4”.

Yeah - my single beam comment may have been slightly aimed at your install. I should've know you already found a solution for the oddly weak beam. I guess this is just the way it is.
