MicroQuiet 4000 Generator Fuel Pump

My generator would run fine for 20 minutes to about an hour then it would sound like it was running out of gas and shut down. The error code was 36. The clue pointing to the fuel pump was the fact it did not shut down cleanly - as it would for a high heat or low oil signal. I was under the impression that electric fuel pumps work or they don't. Apparently these pumps can fail a little at a time. After I installed the new pump and filter assembly it runs as long as needed. The filter came from Amazon and the pump from Summit Racing, $63.73 total. It's a chore to replace so take your time. I need two new fuel hose clamps and a little fuel safe thread sealant which I had on hand. The only somewhat unusual tool needed was a #30 Torx bit.
I think I'll treat it to new oil and filter next weekend!
