Mount spare tire under the coach?

I have a 2005 Greyhawk 24 SS V10 E450.

Spare tire is currently mounted on the rear bumper. I was thinking it would be nice to get it out of the way to put a good sized storage box in the rear.

Was wondering if it is worth the trouble and if anyone here has done this? Like an angle iron bolted to the I beams with a ratchet in the center to crank the wheel and tire up tight?

Ideas? should I forget about it?

Thanks for your opinions and ideas.

Not on that model but i installed mine under rear on our 29xk and another friend fit his under his 26xd also. We used a universal spare tire winch that came with a c-channel to mount and i cut it to fit between rear frame. Think we got the part at wally world (walmart)

I paid a local welder to put mine on. I was storing it under the bed storage area. This is much better.Click image for larger version

I took my spare off the rear, mounted it under tongue utilizing thr rear srare bumper bracket. Then put a storage box on the rear bumper.
