My all so famous banks stainless header and exhaust system has a baffle in the muffler that has come loose enough to sound like a piston rattle.
I banged around the muffler enough that it is mostly gone but am sure it will come back.
My question is about the dimples in two circles around the body they look like that is where they may be loose but can't tell. Does anyone know if that is how they are attached? That is where I beat with the hammer.
I'll answer anyway. The dimples are where the baffles are welded. Some form of blind spot welding. May have gotten too hot, and warped the baffle to the point it broke free from pressure and vibration.

Thanks for answering, I thought that was the case. I'm currently on a trip and when I drive through the camp ground it sounds very similar to a rod or piston....I beat the hell out of it and its gone for now. I didn't want to look for a muffler right.now....good to go ya know.. thanks
