New batteries

I just bought two 6 V interstate batteries for my 02 \Greyhawk. On the last connection I get a small spark. After a short time I could get another small spark, but not a continuous spark. Any thoughts what will cause this intermittent spark? I would think if something was on I would get a continuous spark? Any thoughts? Stan

The propane detector is usually always on and perhaps the entrance steps?

Also the fridge Solar charger, control panel, inverter, TV signal boost, and all the other control panels that are in every darn thing these days.
The only way to find out is to open all your circuit breakers and then close them one at a time, then look at what is on that circuit. Also you can check for for draw with a amp meter when closing the breakers.

Put a meter on it and see what the amp draw is.

When it sparks, it doesn't spark again, unless I wait a short time. it's not a continuous spark, like something is on. Stan

If your have an inverter that will be your source of the spark. It is completely normal. The capacitors pull a charge and then the capacitor’s charge dissipates when disconnected.

I believe if you look at you inverter manual it will tell you to expect a spark when connecting it to power.

Also a spark that near the battery does present a bit of a safety concern if there is hydrogen present from charging, your battery can go KA-BANG!

Disconnect all load elsewhere before attaching your cables to the battery.
