New Seneca Owners!

We pulled the trigger yesterday and picked up our new 2018 Seneca TS! Love it already. We traded our 2008 diesel pusher and I have to say driving has never been so nice. Anyone fearing the ride of the big C class vs a diesel pusher needs to drive the Seneca. After years of feeling like I was pushing a rope, I'm back to driving. I'm sure we'll have plenty of questions as we continue to read the manuals and try to get all the things up and running. BTW, the folks at Burton's Campers in Calera, AL were absolutely fantastic! The best buying experience ever. I cannot say enough great things about them as well!

Excellent news, have you picked the unit up or ordered it? What colors and options? Love the space in the TS with the opposing couches.

Good luck and happy travels

Congratulations on your new Seneca. We drove ours home from Orlando to Ft. Lauderdale in rain and traffic. I can't wait to hit the road it.

I like that there are several new Seneca owners here and we can share our experiences.

Happy trails.

Congratulations! I'm sure you will enjoy your rig immensely as I do.

And when you get the urge to upgrade your unit, lots of good modifications posted here in the forum already. I am known as a "serial modifier" by some here, my wife somehow puts up with my lunacy regarding my TS.

A question for you "other-than-FS-floorplan" new Seneca owners - Has Jayco ever started putting pneumatic bed lift cylinders on the rear bed in the slideout? Or do they still make you muscle it up and prop it up with the rod?

Thanks for the info!

If memory serves, the FS models have a fixed bed platform and lift assist cylinders can be attached without too much fuss, likely you would just need to provide a beefy lower mounting point for the cylinders. 3/4" Plywood gussets seem to be the common way to accomplish that.

The other Seneca models have a mattress platform that slides across the base as the slideout moves in and out. Conventional wisdom is that you cannot install lift cylinders on such a system since the base and platform change positions relative to each other. But I have engineered a solution allowing installation of cylinders making it easy to raise the bed to access the underbed storage. Safer too in my opinion since it won't fall suddenly if you don't attach the prop rod just right. My wife needed me to raise and hold up the bed previously, now she can do it easily herself and it stays up by itself.

We debate whether she likes the central vac, the full range (with oven), or the bed lift as her favorite modification we have done. My choice is my air horns!

Congratulations on the new Seneca. Just had ours out to the campground for it's first trip.

We had to muscle our bed several times this weekend.

The 2018 TS floor plan still requires one to muscle up the bed platform. Not too tough to do, but it could be better.

I was pulling the Seneca out of the yard as DW and the lawn guy were blocking my way. As I gently pressed the horn button, they looked at me and just started laughing and laughing. Even DW agrees we need a better horn.

Why I added mine! No truck this size should ever have such a sissy horn!

I went so far as to add a Freightliner (American LaFrance) fire truck dash switch allowing me to select the stock electric horn for a gentle "beep" in town, or the air horn for when I want wake them up on the highway.

Mr Bill
I don't know whether a brand new TS (and other models except the FS) uses the same slideout mechanism as my 2014, but if they do I have a solution!

Thanks to you Robbbyr, I ordered the same switch set-up. I just got a different horn set-up.
