Have any of you installed "The electric antifreeze kit" shown on the Truma website? 12V that apparently will recirculate down to -4 degrees without using LPG.

I have one. This works on protecting the unit while driving and shuts the propane off. It includes a cap that seals the exhaust flue.

To use it you pull out the existing drain screen and replace with the electric module, plug the electric element into the circuit board. Keep the screen as it is needed for the decalcify process. Then you use the unit as normal while parked the propane will keep the unit warm. When moving down the road the issue with the propane is the heat exchanger. The air moving past the exchanger will freeze the water in it and this can damage the unit. So they provide a piece that goes in the exhaust and you switch the unit from propane to electric.

This is not a water heater to make hot water. It just keeps the unit at 45'f to keep it from freezing.

Thanks. Looks like I need to add that to the list when upgrading to Comfort.

You can do the decalcification yourself on the Comfort model.

I dont have the electric freeze protection and we dont often drive in freezing weather and if we do, I just turn the water heater on Eco mode.

I've only passed through Texas on my way to some else.
But this winter, I'd like spend a month or two
around the warm Texas south.
Any suggestions?

Were all the way down in the Rio Grand Valley in San Benito. Close to the beach but not to close to affect our Seneca, rust. This area a great place for the winter, they know and treat you like family, cheap to eat, lots of entertainment in and outside our park and lots to see. Were at Sun N Fun rv park. Remember first time visitors get a special rate.

Galveston sounds good. I'll start checking on campgrounds around there and further south.
Thanks, Larry.

Thanks for the insight. I'll be sure to check out your area. Also, good to know that a campground incentive is available.

A little FYI for anybody that has done the Truma upgrade from Basic to Comfort. While camping last week in 10° weather the inside control knob the Yellow LED started blinking twice fast. Got the book out and it was an error code saying to check the flash code on the outside unit itself. Go out and count the short and long flashes and come up with a error code of 33 which is "high voltage on winterizing kit" but I dont have the 12v winterizing kit? It did this several time a day even in 45° weather. I finally rode to an area I had cell service and did some searching and it seems that Truma has a main control problem that will randomly throw a code 33 but the water heater will continue to work as set. I have an email in to Truma but everything I read online says they ship you a new board right out and its a simple one screw self install. Havent heard back so I will call them today.
