Red face Newbie help please

We have a 2000 Class C designer and we're having the darndest time with some of what should be, the simplest things. Right now the big issue is that I don't have water flowing from the holding tank, but it flows fine hooked up to the fresh line in (garden hose hooked up to the house) We are planning on taking the RV down the Alaskan Highway to my son's wedding in Washington. Long trip. TOTAL newbies to RV's

Scott,

My first thought would be to look and see if there is a shut-off valve leading to/from the onboard fresh water tank. These, generally, operate separately from the “shore” water line.

Also, can you verify that your onboard pump is working?

May have a "control center" on the outside wall near the water hose connection, and you need to change some of the valves to certain positions to be able to fill the FW tank. Had a '05 Greyhawk with this control center with 4 or 5 valves behind the door, had to move some to fill the FW tank, winterize, etc.
