Newbie taking delivery of 2019 Jayco redhawk 26XD-leveling jacks

Literature states "leveling jack prep." What exactly does this mean? Are the hydraulic jacks important in a 28'8" coach? What about electric stabilizers? Are they included or are they a less expensive option than hydraulic jacks?

Any input on expected mileage with Ford Triton V-10? Know it's going to low but don't trust dealer estimates. 87 octane is listed for fuel has anyone had any problems with that? Pinging, etc.

Thanks for your time.

Welcome to the forum and congratulations on the new Redhawk.

But, unfortunately, I can't help with your questions.

Prep just means they can be more easily added later without frame modifications. I wouldn’t want your rig without them. Stabilizers help keep the rig from shaking (much). Levelers can actually lift the rig.

Expect 7-9 mpg.

Congratulations on your new Redhawk.

Our 2014 Greyhawk also has the V-10 and averages 8-1/2 mpg. Have always run 87 octane and used Gas Buddy to find the cheapest gas wherever we’re at. Never had any fuel problems. Ours came with the Bigfoot hydraulic levelers and I’ve not regretted having them, although I think Jayco uses another brand now.

Happy camping.

32 foot bunkhouse - just checked the mileage a week ago during a trip and it was about 9.4 MPG. That was 60 - 65 up and down in the rain all the way home.

32 foot bunkhouse - 8.25 mpg but only have 3 fill-ups to average out!

Should have asked what leveling prep means before getting to the taking delivery part. Could have negotiated that into the deal, but if your taking delivery, the deal is done already?

I don't want to be trying to leveling out a dually RV and having to fill up storage space with leveling blocks. I just hit a button!

To each is own.

I have a 2017 26xd with 5k miles. get about 8-81/2 pulling crv and 10 solo.
Runs good on the 87 octane. Had a 2006 rv for 11 yrs with the V10 and never had any problems with 87 octane. I dont have jacks and didnt on previous and probably have only had to use lego blocks 5 times in last year.
I have never had so guess I dont miss them and figure I can buy a lot of gas for the price of adding them. That said if I was to buy another RV it would be something I would consider. If you look under your rv you will see two brackets toward the front and 2 towards the back. I believe this is what they consider jack prep?

We have a 2018 Redhawk 26XD without built in leveling jacks. I guess if you have them you can't imagine not having them and if you don't have leveling jacks you can't see why you'd need them. I have a LevelMate Pro and can level the rv on lego blocks very quickly. I think I'd rather use the $$$ saved to buy a toad towing system. I just bought a $50 rear bumper, manual stabilizer. Haven't used it yet but I'll try it out next week. We notice some movement without stabilizers but not enough to concern us very much. We get between 9 and 9.5 mpg on the road.

We have 22j and the prep (I believe standard) is that the Frame has the mounting points already. You would have to have the actual leveling system installed. Crawl under and you will see the brackets.
We're also right around 10 mpg with 87 no pinging.
I agree that I would rather spend the $$ on something else and just continue to use the stacking blocks to level. You can start that way and if you feel its to much aggravation, get the levelers installed
Congrats and enjoy
