No AC power in 2017 Melbourne
We recently took delivery of our 2017 Melbourne 24K. It was plugged into shore power during the initial walk thru prior to accepting the unit. It is currently stored outside (Chicago) and I have no access to shore power at that location. Here's what I know:
1) All AC outlets and appliances worked while on shore power at the dealer.
2) With the generator running I have no voltage at outlets/appliances
3) I tried to test/reset the GFI outlet but the two pushbuttons did not click on or
off as you would expect (likely because there was no AC?)
4) I reset the main circuit breaker at the distribution panel with no change
5) I measured 12.6 VDC at the house battery with the generator off and on
indicating the output from the generator is not getting to the battery.
6) With the engine on, I measure 13.6VDC at the battery both when the
generator is running and not running indicating the alternator from the engine
is going to the house battery.
All of this has led me to looking for the transfer switch which I can't find.
QUESTIONS:
a) Where is the transfer switch?
b) Could it have been manually overridden at the dealer and still in the shore power only position? If so, how do I return it to it's auto select mode so it will choose between shore/generator power?
c) Is there something else I'm missing here.................
PLEASE ADVISE.
MIKE

Did you check the circuit breaker on the generator itself? Easy to bump off if someone was working around generator.

Actually I didn't. I opened the cover to the generator and all I saw was a start/stop switch. I'm not home now, but later tonight I'll see if I can find docs on the generator. I believe it is a Cummins Onan but don't remember the KW rating just now.
THANKS

The breaker is right next to the start stop, it may look like a light switch

If you have the 3600 propane unit I believe the breaker is located inside the maintenance cover. Remove the cover and look around the corner from where the control switch is located. The circuit breaker often looks more like a house light switch than a typical panel-mounted breaker.
I have no idea where your transfer switch might be located, but I am not aware of any transfer switches that give an option to "lock-out" generator power. Not saying they don't exist, just unknown to me. But transfer switches can fail, and sometimes generators stop producing power due to various problems.
Let's hope it is just something simple!

I do recall seeing a black rectangular rocker switch with a red power light that was lighted when the generator was going and off when it was off. Is that what you're talking about or are there actually 2 switches, the lighted on/off and a CB? I'll visit the unit tomorrow mid morning and take a better look.........thanks

There are two switches. The rocker switch with the light is the start stop. The breaker is a plain black switch.

Thanks soooooo much. I'll look for it tomorrow and hopefully be able to report that's what the problem was. Where is the switch in relationship to the lighted on/off switch?

Yes, separate switches. The lighted switch is the start/stop switch. The fact it is lit when running is good, generally that does mean the generator is making voltage.
So I am hopeful it is just the breaker, but the transfer switch would be my next area of concern

If you do have the propane generator it is just around the corner of the panel the on/off control switch is located on. Mere inches away.

Got it thanks. Will report back tomorrow. Of course if it turns out to be the CB, the next question is why did it trip in the first place. I'm the only one with access to the coach and there hasn't been any AC load applied since we drove it away from the dealer. Guess we'll see tomorrow.
DOES ANYONE KNOW WHERE THE TRANSFER SWITCH IS LOCATED (just in case it's not a tripped CB)

We don't have the same motorhome but yours may be located under the bed behind a panel along with the converter and inverter.

Yep, it was the circuit breaker on the generator. Not sure why it was in the off position, but I reset it, turned on a bunch of AC loads and it held so all is well.
THANKS Robbyr & Grumpy

Glad it was just that. You probably will never discover why it may have been shut off. Oh well, it works now!
Happy camping!

Once or twice a year that circuit breaker on the generator trips on my GH 31DS for no apparent reason. The first time I spent an hour checking the coach circuit breakers and fuses and the surge protector till I found no power getting from the generator to the surge protector. Got the generator manual out and found the gen circuit breaker.

May be a little late, but the transfer switch is under the bed. Slide has to be out and there is 2 covers to remove to access the compartment. Just mentioning for any future concerns.
