For us... it is a matter of preference that relates to where we are going, how long we will be there and how close the travel destinations are to where we are camping.

Yea, we used to use our tow vehicle to go out and explore - that works for the TT and 5'er folks. Once we got our 24'-C.. we did not pull a toad for a few trips and suffered. Now we almost always take our "off-road-built" Toyota with us. We have taken it over 20k miles over dirt back-roads and enjoy the road less traveled and have used our winch a number of times to get us thru a tough spot. Some of the best places we have visited started out with one of us asking "I wonder where that trail leads... lets go"

So now our approach is ... tow the Toad on a trailer (along with other stuff we like to take) and get the Toyota dirty on the way to an amazing discovery.

Every one of the pictures below - are a destination that required more than 15-Miles of high clearance 4-wheel drive travel in Utah or Wyoming.

I am 78 no problem with renting from enterprise. They will also pick you up regardless of distance, love enterprise

On our second trip to the keys we tried a tow dolly, rented from U-Haul. Thank god we did. One of our dogs got sick and we had to take her to a vet. Could have been difficult and possibly life threatening for her without the car on hand. We bought a tow dolly after that. We are not getting stuck anywhere.

If you're interested in purchasing a used TOAD you can check here.

Toads - RV & Motorhome Classifieds

Also, magazines such as Family RVing list TOADs for sale in their classified section.
