Norcold frig. Model n8x door sag.

We have a 2019 jayco class c just took our forst trip. Frig. Door initially latched but on way home door opened several times. Cannot latch properly. Normally hear a click. Door looks sagged enough to not latch. Wonder if door hinge is adjustable?? Anyone have a similar problem....thanks..btw would not go to rv dealer, terrible.

Be carefull of overloading the door. We had the door on our greyhawk break at the hinges. I think the replacement was about $300.

refrigerator door

By overloading I mean that we just had the door loaded to capacity with soda, beer, milk and such. Poor design by Dometic. No problem since replacement but we don't load the door to capacity anymore.

Did you contact jayco for possible recall/warranty. Are you still under jayco 2yr warranty, might reimburse you

I installed a reinforced hinge on our Norcold. You can find them for less than this site’s price, but it has a good explanation of why it is needed. Door hinge reinforcement

This hinge doesn’t fit this model door. Ask me how I know.

Strange, that’s the same hinge kit model number I installed on the Norcold door in our 2014 Greyhawk.

It's a known problem. Check the hinge bracket.

They don't have a hinge reinforcement for the N8X yet. I emailed those guys months ago. You can't use the hinge we've all been using. I bought it, it does not fit.

Forget the $40 bracket, use a 1 x 4 or 1 x 6 metal strap with pre-punched holes from Ace/Lowe's/Home Depot. Bend it in a vise to 90 degrees (making sure the middle hole lines up exactly over the door hinge hole) and screw it to the door frame. Paint it black to match. Fixed by 4-door Norcold this way and it works great. The Norcold design completely fails.

Thanks, had local authorized jayco tech. Fix it. Added washer to realign latch where dor shuts and clicks in. So far easy fix, but we will see.

Any chance we can get a pic?

Jopopsy,

Being the anal person that I am, I want to get the reinforcement hinges before the plastic door hinge breaks because we make use of the shelves on the door. I have gone to the NorcoldGuy website and according to his data, the #634166 hinge will fit the N821RT unit that we have in our 2018 Greyhawk 29MV. Our Norcold serial number starts with 27510XXX. What model fridge do you have and what part number did you purchase that won't fit? Also, who did you email that hasn't responded? I want to call the NorcoldGuy on Monday to double check numbers and compatibility before I make a purchase. Thanks!

I adjusted the latch where the frig door clicks shut be adding a washers under the latch before reinstalling the screws. Door now clicks shut. Btw bottom hinge base is metal but trying washer fix first to soo if over time the problem returns.

Follow-up:
I just spoke to The Norcold Guy parts department who verified that the #634166 reinforcing parts will fit our N821RT door.

Thanks, it really stinks that the consumer has to fix a known problem when the norcold factory could have corrected it at time of assembly...
