Oil change frequency

I just purchased my first Class C. It’s a 2006 Jayco Greyhawk. Got it in November last year.
I changed the oil in April. Drove to Florida and did one local weekend trip in June.

When would you change the oil again?
I’ve heard yearly but I want your input.

We try and not second guess automotive engineers and typically go by what is listed in the owners manual.

Every 6 months or 5000 miles.

What he said ^^^, and have the engine oil filter changed, too.

I prefer to have 'my guy' do my oil changes, so I have gone over 5,000mi when on the road to get back home.

Follow the manual. Changing the oil a bit more frequently is probably the cheapest insurance you can buy to keep your engine healthy for a long time. I tow a TT but my TV is a 2010 Silverado Duramax that just turned 115k miles. I got it from the original owner [pulled 5'er] with 91k miles. I get the oil changed every year before heading out on our winter trip south or west. I ask the dealer to check everything and listen to {most} of the feedback. I change my own airfilter at half the cost and 10 min of my time. Keep up with maintenance on the tranny, it does a lot of work. I would have it serviced at about 1/2 the recommended mileage.

I have an extended warranty on my Jeep Grand Cherokee. It calls for a 10,000 mile change but I change at 8,000 miles.

Always make sure your oil it the grade and type recommended by your manufacturer. Some shops will put in whatever is cheapest for them.

I usually do my own and use the full synthetic that meets manufacturer specs. I also use quality filters. Don't forget your air filter!

I change when the Oil Life Meter is between 10-20% remaining. This varies between 6-8K miles depending on how hard I'm working the engine. I've found that during the summer months when I'm towing I get more miles between changes than when I'm not towing.

Jchiar...there are many differences in vehicles these guys replying are driving.

Your motorhome V-10 manuals says 5000 miles or 6 months. I recommend you stay with what Ford says. I have the same E450 chassis on mine.

I follow that schedule, also. Oil in the crankcase carrys away acid and other grime for the moving parts of the engine. Once it is used, it no longer has the shelf life, like it does sitting in the bottle or jug. Fuel is the same way, stabilizers work, but only so well. Get that old stuff out of your tanks, use it or recycle it, but don't just let it sit there and expect good performance from 2 year old fuel.

Don't forget your generator. Run it 15 minutes each month, even if you don't need it. Circulate the oil. Get new fuel in the generator's fuel line, if you put additive in the tank, it doesn't mean it gets to the generator, if you don't run the generator.

Great reminder. I was Going to do the generator once a year I will switch that to every six months

I do run it monthly like my home generator as you stated, but I rarely use it camping

All of that information including the recommended weight, type and amount of oil is in the vehicle users manual.

I took mine to the Ford dealer to use the correct oil blend for warranty consideration if something happens later. 7500 miles for the V10 per the manual. However, mountain terrain and towing our Jeep, I erred on the 6800 mile oil change side. Kinda took the B schedule option.
