On the way - Greyhawk 26Y

I guess we’re just Jayco people. After a season with my current rig, its shortcomings really started to show. It just wasn’t the right fit for DW or my family for many reasons (I won’t brand bash here).

So my trusted Jayco dealer has a 26Y ordered in August that hasn’t even entered production yet. We spent a lot of time looking at the Redhawk 26XD and felt comfortable putting a deposit on the Greyhawk version of it. We’ll have to take a hard look on the stuff we put in the outside compartments as the outside storage on this unit is sparse, but we’re sure we can make it work.

Fell in love with the floor plan given the length of the coach. And I really missed the touches Jayco puts in like the slide out roof having the membrane and tape on it, the nice rounded edges of the fiberglass main roof, etc. Things I took for granted in my 2015 that I realize in retrospect were well thought out.

The CCC on it should be around 2300 to 2400 pounds given the yellow stickers I’ve been able to find online for this model. I can make that work too.

So we put a refundable deposit on it.

Oh, and my dealer tells me he ordered it with the theater seating option. Online that’s not a option available, but he assures me this unit was ordered w/ it. We shall see.

Looking forward to Spring 2019 - time to start figuring out where I’m going !

Wow...that's great news Jopopsy! Nice floorplan for sure.

You are correct about the Jayco Redhawks / Greyhawks...nothing compares. When we were searching last year we looked at about every brand class C made. Even the Entegra. But kept coming back to the Jayco. Sure glad we did...we have been super happy!

Congrats!

Having second thoughts here - I might go with the Redhawk 26XD. For the 11-12k in savings I’m having a hard time justifying the upgrade. It’s not chump change.

does the 26XD have a folding queen mattress?
hard to tell from the 360* walkthru on the jayco site.

Yep, identical floor plan to the 26Y. I have 10k of separation between the two and the Redhawk includes the levelers and slide toppers. I already have the upgraded front and rear sway bars on my Sunseeker that I’d swap out. So really is the 10k worth the other niceties. Between the levelers, sway bars, and toppers the gap narrows a lot.

Actually it’s more like a 11.5k spread if I put toppers on the Greyhawk.

Ceramic toilet must be a ‘Prestige’ thing. Hahaha

Seriously though the 2 Greyhawks on my dealer’s lot were plastic toilets.

Our toilet is ceramic not plastic like the redhawks and that is a big deal to my wife.

Something else that was a big deal to her was the window shades. Redhawks don't get roller shades. Also Redhawks have a different front door with no frameless window and no shade.

Again, it adds up. The Redhawk is seen as entry level because of many of it's lessor features.

Order and purchase what you want but you ask about the price difference and I was just showing you some of the reasons. The Greyhawks come with auto hydro levelers, fiberglass roofs and JRide Plus with Bilstein shocks as standard plus all those others I have mentioned and for 2019 all Greyhawks have slide toppers standard. Your dollars, your choice.

I also noticed the Redhawk had the side door set physically lower on the coach then the Greyhawks. 1 platform electric step vs. 2 actual steps on the Greyhawk b/c the door is physically set higher.

Too many differences, and if its true that Greyhawks get slideout toppers now that's just more gravey. We advised our salesman we're going to wait for the Greyhawk. Whenever it comes in.

Well, maybe luck was with me today. I found a Jayco dealer 2 hours from me that has a 2018 Greyhawk 26Y sitting there. So I ran up to check it out.

Chassis build date February, coach build date April. It’s a 2018 but it has all the trappings of a 2019: Soundstream head unit, no keypad on the door, etc. 740 miles on it (low for NJ), never been to a show, just sitting there.

This dealer beat my other one by 5k and it’ll be ours on Saturday. Sweet.

Wow! Yes sweet!! Congrats on the new Greyhawk...a fine choice! You did good on finding a late 2018 at some savings. That's how we got out 2018.

We also had decided to order a 2019 but our dealer had a late build 2018 on the lot he had just received that he made us a better deal on. We actually liked the 2018 better because it had some features that they discontinued in 2019 on the Prestige. Win win for us.

Post up some pictures when you get her home. Let the fun begin!

Barring any unforeseen circumstances I'll be back w/ Jayco tomorrow morning. PDI, punch list items I found, slide out toppers, and alignment all done. The coach is in the detail bay right now getting all cleaned up.

Looking forward to tomorrow !

So it got even better. Got to the dealer, did my walk thru. Everything was great.

Go to finance - lol and behold the Jayco certificate of origin lists it as a 2019 ! Mad on top of that, it was christened on my birthday !

It’s a crazy world sometimes the way things work out.
