Onan 4000 ???

What is the proper way to start the Generator I have a 2018 Red hawk only 100 or so hrs. on my Generator.
Every time I start it, it seems like it spins over for ever before it pops off. The one in my old M/H did not take as long to start
Thanks

Usually prime any where from 10 to 30 seconds before pushing start. May take a couple trys.

I count 1-Mississippi 2 etc thru 10 while holding prime then try, usually about two attempts it starts. First time it usually hits and quits second time it starts

Priming is your friend...don't hold the start for more than a few seconds or damage to the starter can occur. Prime, hit start for a few seconds if it doesn't start let it rest for 30 seconds them prime and hit start again and repeat until it fires off.

Like others mine usually takes a couple of tries. Be sure you keep fresh clean gas or run stabil to protect the carburetor. These things are really sensitive to fuel.

The delay in starting has a lot to do with the fuel pump priming the fuel lines from the big gas tank. If it has been sitting not used for extended time it will take more priming.

Mine is the same way. Even when the prime light goes off, I keep priming for a bit. If it has been sitting, it can take 3 or more tries. If has ran in the last couple of days, it will start right up. I suspect the fuel lines are venting back into the tank to some degree.
