One hot Seneca

I must be board but I was wondering just how hot the exterior walls get. This is what I came up with. I'm in northern Minnesota not home in south Texas. The temperature outside today was 80 degrees, 4 below normal for this time of year and the sky was partly cloudy. In the sunlight I measured a high of 164.5 degrees on the surface where its painted black just below in the white it was 120 degrees. Temperatures varied around the camper, The black on my storage door as well as the cab doors was cooler. The hotest part is the bonded walls that make up our sides. Thought you'd like to know.

I have no doubt about your findings. Our black monster could cook an egg in the sunshine. Love the "oil spill" paint job, but warmth is never in question.

Yes, using so much black and dark colors is a brilliant move. It would be just plain silly to use lighter colors that reflect heat instead of absorbing it.

True. Also easier to find hard water spots and dirt.

SLO poke, now I see why you carry your Toyota on the trailer. We only have sand storms here in Florida.
Hope you guys are doing well and the puppies. Jimmyd

Thanks Jimmy... We are doing well... Stacy and the three kids are too. Again... It was great meeting you , talking JOF and criss/crossing our paths west this year. I hope that you'all are doing well, keeping the folks here "up up to date" on your travels and sharing your experiences.

For us... soon we will be loading the Toyota back on the trailer and heading to Moab to meet MarkS. Then spend a few weeks at work in Minneapolis before the frigid arctic blows in... head to Nashville for a few weeks and from there... we might meet back up with ya somewhere.

As far as changing up how we travel with the Toyota on the trailer... Whatever we happen to bring along with us as our TOAD, it will be on the trailer. My buddy in Florida keeps challenging us to bring our BelAir instead of the FJ this winter.. decisions...

SLO poke, Moab should be an easy jump for you and this time of year you and Mark can test the temperature on the paint of your coaches As the OP said the walls get hot. We stopped in Moab six weeks ago and left for Pagosa Springs the next day. Too hot there for these old bones. Enjoy !!
Temps up here in the Florida panhandle are perfect right now. Jimmyd
