Passenger Wet Floor?

2001, 31 foot Jayco Eagle class C. Ford 350 Chassis

After we drive long distances, we notice that the rug on the passenger side is sopping wet. Picture attached. A mechanic (not sure it is a good one) says they can't figure out what the problem is. My father in law (who I purchased it from) said he thinks it is the AC and the drain hole plugged, but I am not sure that it is dripping from the AC. Also, I am not sure it only happens when the AC is on. I know, a bit light on details, sorry.

Is there a chance it is seeping out of the center "hump" where you can access the engine?

Yes, it could be coming from the seal of the rear hood to the engine. Do I think it is? Not likely. I agree, a good source is the ac drain. It won't be happening if the ac isn't on. I also think it could be the heater core. These things don't last forever.

I'd pull the carpet on that side, so you don't create a rust problem and create more damage. Put a rubber mat down and use the vehicle and start investigating and documenting when it is happening. Oh, and keep the water/ antifreeze sopped up.

Or give it to a reliable dealership and let them spend your money doing the investigation.

I would agree that the drain hole for the A/C is plugged. That will definitely cause a wet carpet. If the heater core was leaking, you would have a strong odor of antifreeze in the cabin. To my knowledge, there is nothing else in that area that can cause you problem.

24 hours in a day, 24 beers in a case. Coincidence? I think not.

I would put my money on a plugged drain hole.

If you know the location of the drain tube you can blow air from a compressor into it and maybe dislodge something. I have used this method on skylight drains that got plugged with dirt and overflowed into the car.
