Performance upgrades and tunes for the E-450

Totally new to the MH world but not new to the performance world. So what have you guys/gals done to enhance the performance of the V-10. I was looking at starting with a tune but open to suggestions.

Before I decided to upgrade to my Seneca I had seriously considered adding a Banks Power Pack system and tune to my 2006 E-450-based Chateau Class C. Real-world experiences showed it could improve economy when cruising yet offer real gains in power when you "put your foot in it". Not a cheap system however!

Having gone diesel I terminated my research. But Banks is still out there.

I’m not in the market, but I’ve seen 5 Star Tuning recommeded for the Ford chassis motorhomes a few times:

I've researched the 5 star tune a bit and found that it's biggest claim to fame is the vastly improved transmission shifting on the 2016 and below chassis years. I'm sure the tune makes some slight improvements in other areas but it's negligible without the extras like headers, exhaust and intake.

I hear you. I seem to recall 5 Star is definitely more popular for those with the earlier Ford transmissions, not the 6 speed used in 2016 and up chassis.

I bought a custom "tune" for a stock Suburban once... not worth the money in my opinion.

But on the other hand on a stock corvette a good tune will unleash the beast. Not only that but the shifts in the auto trans will be noticeably smoother and stronger. So I'm sure it varies from car to car.

The tune reviews on the E-450 all seem to be great! Might pull the trigger after some more research. And since there's not that much info out there will review and post my findings.

Installed the 5 star tune and really did not see any improvement in performance. The only significant difference was a firmer shift. I don't think it was worth it even with the irv2 discount.

I think the best thing you can do for the v10 is keep the maintenance up to date and leave it alone. The best thing you can do for your motorhome is reduce weight and suspension upgrades.

Was looking at the sway bar and steering stabilizer but I don't want to over tighten things and go too crazy.
Has anyone here had good results with these options?

Many of us have done a number of suspension upgrades and have been very pleased. Some like how their units handle as is though.

This topic has been discussed a number of times and searching for it will give you a lot of info on the topic.
