Plugging a 30 amp Greyhawk into 50 amp service

We'll be going to Gulf Shores in October for a couple of weeks during the Shrimp Festival. We have a reservation at Gulf State Park. A friend lives nearby at Pensacola Beach and has a slab with sewer and electric connections. She had a motorhome at one time. She's trying to get us to come and stay at her place after the our time at Gulf State Park. The electric service is 50 amp. As far as I know, there is no 30 amp service available. I've never had any type of RV that had 50 amp. Always had 30 amp. So, I never met up with the problem or question of 30 into 50. I guess there is probably some kind of pigtail that can be utilized. Any help out there?

Hey Joe, Noticed your location at City of Two Harbors. Isn't that a great place to be in August? Nice place, great bike/walking trail over to the docks and town.

Always good to have an adapter onboard. 50 to 30 and 15 to 30. All are available at Camping World, Amazon and probably lots of others. If you find that you have to go from 15A service to your 30A RV you will probably not be able to power up A/C, microwave, TV, lights and whatever else, all at one time without tripping breakers.

Even your local WALMART may carry the RV 50A(M) to 30A(F) long dogbone adapter.

The adapter will only have one HOT leg of the 50A service connected to your 30A connection and should work like a champ...

I used to always use the 50A Service at the various campgrounds with my 30A Trailer as these receptacles don't get used much. Most everyone has the 30A trailers...

Just be sure your RV50A(M) to 30A(F) adapter looks like this...

I would be very cautious using someone elses wired up RV50A service connection. If it were me I would make measurements with my MULTIMETER to make sure it was wired correctly.

Measuring the 50A side at the 50A wired pedestal connection should look like this measurement...

The output of the RV 30A ADAPTER plug should look like this...

If you cannot verify these AC VOLTAGE readings as shown with your multimeter then I would most definitely NOT plug in the 30A trailer using an RV50A to 30A adapter into it...

You surely don't want a possible miss-wired RV pedestal connection to burn up your 30A Trailer appliances... That could add to as much as $3000 dollars to recoup your loses...

It wood really a bad situation to be in if something bad happens using the family provided miss-wired RV Pedestal connection...
