portable water softener

Anyone have experience with the portable water softeners made for RVing? Thoughts and recommendations?

I have an On the Go double model. We really like it. Couple benefits I've noticed: a lot less white mineral deposits coming out of hot water tank when I flush it, soft water for your black and grey tanks (no need for Calgon if you are using Geo method), ice from our ice dispenser and the water "seem" better, wife thinks her coffee tastes better too, good for folks with skin sensitivities

Our double model looks like a scuba tank and can be fairly heavy to load and unload. I usually blow out extra water to minimize the weight.
