Potential New Jayco Owners (2014 Redhawk 31XL)

Good evening all! First post here and new to the forum. I tried scouring the search bar for this particular model (2014 Redhawk 31XL) and had a hard time finding some feedback on the motorhome.
My wife and I are looking into purchasing a 2014 Redhawk 31XL with just under 20,000 miles on it. Any suggestions on what to look for when we go take a look at it? For those who have one in the 2010-2015 year range, what are your likes and dislikes? Thank you in advance!

Welcome to Jayco Owner's Forum from New Hampshire.
We have a special search engine available.

I can't say if the price you've been quoted is fair. It seems like it but only an expert inspection can confirm it's condition. I suggest you contact a certified RV inspector and ask them to look it over. Here's a link to locate one near who can do it for you: https://nrvia.org/locate/

An inspection by a Certified RV Inspector as stated above is very good advice. Most people really do not know what to look for, especially if you have not owned RV’s before. The little that you will pay an inspector, may save you much grief from a bad purchase.

Comfort wise, with the dinette behind the passenger seat check to see how much the passenger seat will recline before hitting the dinette seat back. We have a 2018 Grayhawk 31DS but the sofa is behind the passenger and the sofa arm is removable to allow the passenger seat to recline a little.

Welcome aboard.

Water is the killer of any camper. If you see water damage, be careful. It can be very difficult and expensive to repair.

If the fiberglass is buckling/waviness. This is a sign of delamination due to water.

Get on the roof and inspect the roof caulking. Seeing lots of caulking of different ages. That is a good sign. It means they have inspected and fixed issues right away.

If it has a generator, run it and inspect the hour meter it should be ran at least 1 hour a month, at 1/2 load. If the hour meter load is low, it may have carborator issues. Lots of hours is a good sign.
