Problem with rear view mirror camera

We have a 2018 Class C Jayco Envoy and the rear view camera was working fine when we put it in a covered storage unit for the winter. We check the unit monthly and start it and run it but in March we noticed the rear view camera is not working. 3 different RV mobile services have looked at it and no one has anything to say but “huh. Interesting. It’s not working”.

It’s made by Rear View Safety and dealer installed. I get a blue screen with “No Signal” . When put it in reverse I see lines drawn, but no picture. I need to return to Minnesota in a few days and I’m stuck. As far as I’m concerned this is a “no go item” The people who have looked at it suggested a fuse box and I can see in the manual there is suppose to be a “multiplexer” somewhere. Question is WHERE. It’s certainly not visible and it looks like it should be since it has a TV hook up and dvd hook up in the picture.

Anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance.

This is a "where to start" topic. Firstly, the wiring system that Jayco does behind the dash of any unit is like an explosion in a spaghetti factory. Then comes the fact that the way they wire, wires get pinched by emergency brakes and other objects. That shuts off signals. So, bottom line to all of this is, it is going to take someone some hours to troubleshoot the mess that they make. In my case the first problem was a right rear view mirror that did not work and took an entire rewire of the mirror system. Then the cameras went out and that required a replacement of the stereo system and rewire of the cameras.

Jayco lacks severely in basic wiring for systems.

So, bottom line to all of this is, find a good stereo install service that has some experience with camera and stereo systems because Jayco is not much good at that.

Yikes!

Thanks for the response! The first mechanic who looked at it thought it went through the dash, but after looking at it, it doesn’t. This is what would be just your ordinary rear view mirror and it’s attached to the windshield. The cable from the mirror back goes into the overhead bunk area. That’s why I thought the multiplexer would be near the TV hook up, but there isn’t anything for the tv except a cable connection.

Do you think we are talking about the same thing? There is no stereo shop in this small town so I’d have to drive it to Phoenix, and willing to do that if that’s where the problem is but I can’t see any connection to the mirror and the dash. , I am very concerned about the time frame. I really must be on the road next week.

Check your battery charge level as a first step. A low battery will result in the dreaded blue screen.

House battery is good and so is engine battery. Is there another battery you are referring to?

Did you look at your owner's manual? It could be as simple as resetting the software in the control unit. Battery voltage fluctuations during storage might have made it forget what it is supposed to do.

Or you could call the manufacturer of the system:
REAR VIEW SAFETY INC.
HOURS OF OPERATION
Mon-Thu: 9:00am – 5:30pm EST
Friday: 9:00am - 5:00pm EST
Phone - (855) 961-0075
Local - (718) 701-5660
Text (Cell) - (201) 856-9955

They can probably sort it for you.
