Propane

Can you hook up an external propane tank to the outside quick release in the back, and shut off the main tank and have it feed the whole system?
Heater, fridge, water heater, etc...
Just in case the main tank empties.
Thanks

What RV do you have? Make, model and year? Then you can get advice tailored to your model.

No, the quick connect that Jayco supplies is a low pressure connection meaning it’s after the regulator. Say a 20lb bottle, it is a high pressure connection off the valve. You can get a setup that you easily install between your motorhome tank and regulator that allows you to connect a high pressure tank and then it goes through the motorhome regulator. They units are typically called an Extenda-Stay. I just installed this unit on our Seneca.

The regulator usually has a plastic cover, just pop it off, and after making sure the main tank valve is turned off, loosen the fitting from the regulator into the valve and then reassemble putting the new assembly between the tank valve and regulator. Make sure to test for leaks after doing the work.....takes about 10 minutes.
