Propane tanks are designed to automatically shutoff if there is a massive leak, such as a broken hose. The fridge is designed to shut the propane off if there is no flame. There are many more serious things to worry about while driving than to worry about a tank with an open valve and a small burning flame.

I’ve been rv’ing since 1996 and always have traveled with a cold fridge, and full water tanks. When I had my Class A I carried over 100 gallons of highly flammable gasoline and managed to survive.

This topic has been discussed so many times and I promised myself I would keep my controversial opinions to myself....broke my own rule of self incrimination....

Used LPG on the fridge for years on previous 5th wheel trailers with no issues/problems.
Just ran LPG on our new Melbourne Class C maiden voyage over 3K miles and no issues. Rep. that showed us operation of RV at time of sale said, it will not hurt anything to run fridge on propane while traveling.

I also run the propane BUT I only turn (1) tank on, this way if something leaks I still have propane left when I arrive...

I open ours when we start the season, and close it once the fridge is emptied and the Rig goes into winter storage.

Had MHs for 25 years, always ran with on. Thought that was needed for fridge.
