Propane transfer to MH

Hello everyone. I plan on parking our 2020 Greyhawk Prestige 30XP at camp site and did not want to have to move the MH when need propane. I was thinking about getting a 20lb tank on board and run out with 20 lb'er to get propane when needed. What exactly will i need to xfer the propane tank to tank ? Is it easy..any safety concerns ?

Thank you kindly.

Instead of transfer, which is normally done by a professional pump system at a licensed dealer or sometimes by the delivery truck, I would recommend buying a hose long enough to leave the tank outside. You could either connect it to an automatic changeover valve or just bypass the internal tank.

Or you can have a truck come out and fill you up.

Alternatively you can rent a tank and pipe it in if this is a long stay site or permanent location.

As RogerR stated you really cannot transfer propane, as LPG is pumped into the tank in a liquid state. We consume the LPG in a vapor state.

Most common method to do what you want to accomplish is to install an "Extend A Stay" it is a valve that is installed between your existing onboard tank and the distribution system. This valve will allow you to connect portable tanks to the MH.

Commonly when parked for an extended period people will run off of the portable tanks, and only use the on board tank as a backup (when your portable tanks run out). This allows you to use the on board tank as a reserve, and keeps you from having to move the MH to get it filled. Once the onboard tank is empty you will need to find a mobile service or pack up and find a propane station to refill.

I have an extend a stay fitting myself, have not installed it yet, but will soon

I bring an extra 5gal tank when I go for longer stays

Easy thing is get the big tank, and extend a stay adapter, then u can fill the big tank if needed
