Question about winterizing

Need advice for our 2016 31xl. Live in Iowa...COLD in winter!! Often lots of snow but very unpredictable. We are in our 60's and not a fan of getting on the roof to shovel snow. Once a year for cleaning purposes is enough! We have decided to store in a covered building. No electrical and no heat but it will be protected. We will go through all the normal procedures to avoid critters. Next year we will be traveling to Washington DC in mid-March. Between here and our destination it can still be sub-zero weather and snow storms. Need advice- pros and cons to using antifreeze vs. air pressurizing? What will we have to do to prepare for this trip? We are camping virgins and learning as we go

Winterizing questions in June... Not gonna make any friends here ... Who am I kidding everyone is friendly here!

You will get differing opinions on this... But I personally am a fan of using both. Clear the lines as much as possible with air pressure and then add antifreeze. RV antifreeze is not meant to be diluted, it loses it's effectiveness the more water you add to the mix.

Your winter trip options will depend a lot on your travel plans. The easiest solution is to leave the RV completely winterized until you get to a Southern destination. If you have to stop part way down and need access to your water then you will need to explore options to protect your plumbing system, and those will depend on things such as wether you are at full hook up sites vs boondocking. I assume your rig has tank heaters, they will help some. You can also fend of some of the ill effects of the cold by knowing what cupboards your lines run through, open those cupboard doors to allow the heat from your coach to travel along the lines.

We've thought about this and our plans to run from Maine to Florida is to regard our RV as a rolling bed and stove and no more till we get south of DC. That is only one night on the road

We'll use campground facilities like bathrooms and heat water on the stove and dump grey water into whatever the campground has for grey water disposal.

Not unlike winter tent camping which we have done too..

We wont dewinterize for that first night.. Can do it enroute.

BTW check ahead. A lot of campgrounds in PA and OH are not open that early. It may be that you wind up at Wal Mart where you have to think of how to get rid of that cook water..
