Questions on dual a/c on greyhawk
Hello, I am currently looking at purchasing a 2018 Greyhawk 31fs and was considering adding the dual 11k a/c units. I am wondering if it is needed and if anyone already has this system that could tell me how much other appliances that can be used while running both a/c as it is still only 30 amp. First post and hopefully many more as my wife and I are looking for our first RV. Thank you. Also on a side note should I opt for alloy rims?

I'm in Texas but I will tell you this....We will never own another RV with only one AC. At least not in this part of the country. And with AC units the bigger the better. These RVs are not, for the most part, well insulated.

I would not even think twice about it, for just over 1k I sure would add the second a/c unit for all the reasons others have stated and a great resale option.

We have the same system. We got the Alante as the Greyhawk was too far out of our budget, and had a bunch of extra "stuff" that we didn't want.
The automatic electric control system balances the load. As an example, if both the ACs are running, and somebody starts the microwave, the control system shuts down the compressor on the rear AC. Pretty neat!

Ok, great! Thanks for the info! I feel more comfortable about going with the dual ac unit now.

we have the big Greyhawk with one AC. Never again. Even in the high 90's in the midwest, the coach would be unbearably hot.
go for two

Ok, thanks. My stupid dealer tried telling me that I didn't need 2. He even acted like I was dumb for even asking about it. He told me he had a 2017 Greyhawk 31fs and the one ac did great even at 100 degrees! I figured he was just trying to sell his on lot 2018 model to me since it only had one ac. So glad to hear the comments on this forum!

Get the two ACs. The dealer is full of crap; MAYBE that rig can hold reasonable temperature in full shade on a hot day, but in full sun you're going to bake. And no amount of Reflectix, window treatments, etc. is going to fix that completely.

Dual AC Units
If you order a unit with dual ac units it will in all likelihood come with 50 amp service. If staying in a park that has 50 amp hookups this will allow you to run both ac units at the same time. Otherwise if the campsite has 30 amp service, you will be using a 50 to 30 amp adapter and will only be able to run one ac unit at a time.

Pretty sure these 2 ACs are 11Ks and run on 30A.

Yeah I checked on this. The greyhawk runs both ac units on a 30 amp service. I was worried about overloading the system but someone posted that it will shut down the rear ac unit if you overload it

I live in Arizona, have posted on this before, and have a Grey Hawk 29W (2017). I had to convert my coach to two 11000 BTU A/C units because the single 15000 was absolutely worthless in anything over 85 degrees. I do not have the custom paint. I can run both A/C units, all of my lights, refrigerator and microwave all at once on 30 amps, either on plug in or on generator. Agreed, it is near max, but nonetheless it works absolutely awesome. It cools the coach down to whatever temp we desire. Believe me, and in my opinion, the factory should not just make this an option, but should include it with any coach over 26 feet in length.
No, I would not purchase their alloy rims. They are too expensive and others can be purchased aftermarket for less than $200 each (you need only 4 of them), if you do some homework. I changed mine and bought them at Discount Tire in Arizona.

Thank you for your comment. I definitely will be getting the dual ac units after reading all of these responses. I will also check out some aftermarket rims like you suggested. Thanks again for the input.

Just wanted to add my 2 cents and confirm what everyone else has already said....definitely go for 2 A/C units. Even with two, don't expect any more than a 20 degree drop in inside temp (versus outside)...
