Radio Screen Dimming

We have a 2010 Jayco Melbourne with a Magnadyne M1-LCD receiver with touch screen. We've been considering replacing the radio due to the poor picture on the screen. However, we just recently noticed the screen is bright and clear until the headlights are turned on. The radio screen becomes very dim when we turn on the headlights. Has anybody else experienced this issue?

Also, is it possible to see the rear camera all the time instead of just when in reverse?

I must say we thoroughly enjoy this site. So many helpful discussions and advice. Thanks to all who post.

Rick

I think you're going to have to tell us what the make and model of the *radio* is. On our Jensen, we can do both: dim the display at any time and leave the rear camera on.

Is it wired to dim to match the dashboard lighting? Most vehicles dim the radio when the headlights are on and it is set by the dashboard light level.

Have you tried to increase the dash lighting?

Also, there may be a lighting setting in the radio menu.

If this is the manual:
Magnadyne M1-CD | Operation and Installation Manual

Then it says:

2. Power On/Off and Display Dimmer: Press to turn the unit On or Off. Press and hold to dim the display.
Press and hold again to restore display’s illumination.

Our's is the Magnadyne M1-LCD not the M1-CD. I have the manual, just haven't found the solution. In the rear camera section it only shows on/off with the transmission in reverse.
I need to get into the settings on the receiver itself but it's freezing right now in South central PA .

On mine you can turn on the camera all the time. MH
In storage or I would tell you how to do it.
Don’t know about screen dimming, but I’m sure there is a fix.
I have a 2010 Melbourne.

Does this help?

If you use a turn signal the rear camera will go away. Not sure if you will have to reselect the rear again or if it will come back on.

I only have a rear camera, and once I turn it on when I am towing, it stays on until I turn it off or turn off the ignition.
2010 Melbourne with m1-lcd.

Thanks for the tip. When I turn the dimmer wheel all the way to bright the radio screen goes dim but when I just turn the dimmer wheel about 3/4 of the way both the dash and radio are good. Thanks.

This worked!! I hit the turn signals and of course the side cameras came on but each time it went back to rear when I turned the signals off. Thanks.

We also have a 2010 Jayco Melbourne with a Magnadyne M1-LCD receiver with touch screen and the display is going bad. It is screen is faded and image is broken up. Does anyone know what we can replace it with? I did find a used one but it was $600+ and I don't think it came with a warranty. Thanks
