RECRO 58" Powered Recliner

I have been doing research for this project for several months and there are a few threads here on replacing the couch with the recliners. In at least one the owner extended the slide front to allow for the chair overhang but I cannot find anything about installing without doing that and there are a few other questions that I cannot find answers to. I am hoping someone may be able to help.



1. The window valance sticks out 4-5 inches from the wall and the chair needs another 3" to recline. Did anyone find a solution for this other than removing the valance? That is not a game stopper and those can be replaced with curtains.



2. The slide platform is 32-33 inches. Mounting to the platform, with the valances gone, would work as the frame on the chair is 21.25 inches. The front of the chairs would overhang the front of the slide. Did this cause a problem if anyone mounted this way?


3. The electrical box under the couch appears to have 120V. I have not plugged things in and opened it up to test. Does anyone know if it does have 120V through it?

Well, I spoke too quickly. His model looks like the un-powered version. Dimensions appear to be quite different between the two. Sorry.

I did not remove the valences and in recline, the seats just clear it, using the platform. I do not have the electric because we boondock a fair bit and they don’t work without electric. We did have to place the electric box a few inches from original position.

Our valences stick out from the wall about 4 inches or a little more. Are yours that far out and if so did you mount the recliners so that they were 3 inches further out from the valence?

That helps. Did you have to add to the front of the slide to fit the frame or did the frame fit with no modifications?



Do you know if that power box underneath has 120V?

We mounted it on a 3/4 in plywood board for position and stability, 41in wide, and the length of the slide plus a 7 1/4 in overhang from the end of the carpeted slide. I’m unsure what you mean by frame. That box has 120v and 12 v wires coming from it.... we didn’t open it, just moved it over.

This is the chair frame. Basically the frame is 21.5 inches front to back. My slide platform is 32/33 inches. Moving the chair out 8 inches from the wall still should leave me 3+ inches and the frame sitting totally on the platform. Therefore no need for me to add ply to the slide. At least that is my thinking at this point.

It looks like, from your photo that the front of the frame is just at the edge of the ply.

That’s correct.... we initially put the seat in without any platform and when we reclined it, found out we needed to support the front overhang or it would tip getting out of it, or trying to put the legs back in place. Bear in mind our is not electric and am unsure if there is any dif in configuration.

The other difference here is yours is a Redhawk 26 and mine is a Greyhawk 29. It would help to know the slide measurement from the wall to the edge of the original slide. As I mentioned mine is 32/32 inches. If yours is less that could be the difference.

Also the measurement from the back frame foot to the front frame foot. Are they the same as the photo.

OK it appears I have a choice here. Get rid of the valances which my wife has already suggested and replace them with curtains or add length to the slide.



I am thinking that adding to the slide adds height and more work.

32 3/4 is slide depth..... the chair from front to back are 21.5.

It does add some height, but I’m 5’7 so ok. Taking off the valences and adding curtains was a no for me. Good luck..... I LOVE my seats as do our dogs.

I am thinking that it should work without removing valances or adding ply but it may end up being a "at the moment" decision.

We didn't do the powered recliners and we did do the shelf - but we didn't have to remove the valances in our 31FK. They slid right under.
