Refrigerator

Hello..I have a 2013 jayco melbourne. My refrigerator is a Norco that has a mode to run off of propane..LP mode which I have never used because normally I'm plugged in. So I turned off the main power switch in the RV and put the fridge on LP mode to see if it would stay on using propane... and it didn't. Anyone know Why? Thank you

Main power switch has to stay on to provide power to the control circuits, even if you are running it on propane.

The old, old ele/gas Refrigerators had a pilot light that was manually lit. (did I just date myself?) They would stay on with no 12 volt. New Refrigerators need 12 volt for the electronic igniter and temp regulators.

My Norcold gives me a low dc error code when I am on battery only. This is strange because i check the batteries ( installed a 2nd one) and they are fully charged. When I start the coach the problem resolves itself. Any ideas what the problem might be?

People have reported that the power wires leading to the refrigerator are too small creating resistance and voltage drop. When running the alternator the voltage rises just enough that the refrigerator controls are "happy". Jayco upgraded the wiring under warranty for many owners. Out of warranty you're on your own!

Our 2019 29MVP was showing the same error code. As others have found the wiring is way too small for the refrigerator. I solved our issue by running a 14 gauge wire with a fuse straight from the battery to the refrigerator. Problem solved.

I think i can do that. How did you get to the connections at the refrigerator? Can they be accessed through the external panel, or through the access panel under the fridge? What size fuse did you use? oh and how would i recognize the correct wires? Sorry for all the questions, but experience is the best teacher. Thanks, Bob

Here is a link to my experience with your exact problem. See third entry in post.
