Replaced the plastic toilet

We bought a new 29MV and were surprised it came with a plastic Thetford toilet. Most everything else was an upgrade from our previous RV.

I searched for a ceramic replacement and found the Dometic 320 as the one I wanted, but the measurements showed the base as 16 inches which would have meant cutting into the wiring channel that runs along the floor behind the toilet. After weeks of debate, we decided to just get it and try to make it work.

Turns out the Dometic measurements are from the front of the base to the wall even though that doesn't come through in the diagram. The actual size of the base was only 10.5 inches so it swapped out in less than 15 minutes. I also had to do a simple change to the pex water supply line, but that was easy too. If I had known the actual base size I would have ordered it weeks earlier.

Just thought if other people have been considering a change to let you know how easy it was.

I did the same upgrade in my last camper. I like the porcelain much better than the plastic. I find it easier to clean and it just feels more like home...

Our floorplan came in two trim levels. I think it ultimately was cheaper buying the upgraded 21QB.

Do the porcelain ones have a bigger seat? I wouldn't say my rear carriage is huge, but I do find the plastic one too small and cumbersome.

The dimensions are probably on line. I found that the new porcelain model just felt sturdier, less wobble makes it feel more stable.
